Now for some points that your singular, tired Iron Lake anecdote fails to address: what if people want to mine/harvest something other than pine/oak or iron/mythril? What if people want to farm different grade 5 gemstones or crafting mats? What if people want guild marks which can now only be obtained in the city where the guild is, but simply can't because of new mob placement in areas that aren't as tranquil as Iron Lake? Not to mention node placement and ability to rotate nodes with other DoL points seems to have changed as well, so you have to run further to cycle through nodes if a single one is blocked by aggro.

Please stop trying to defend this indefensible action on the part of the devs and try to understand the problem others are having with this, thanks.
actualy, its other way around
there are pockets of nodes that are now agro heavy
and those few nodes are what a majority of people are mad about

granted, leves arent nice in some areas because of it(hala leves are unaffected)

iron lake as a whole is barely affected by it too(have any of you seriously even gone out there? i know it was pretty much unused before)

yes there is an issue with wanting specific mats, thats always been an issue, and im sure people will find solutions to it too

though in the case of most...you can always go down a grade to get them and take the sp hit...thats an option
