Goodjob! way to use your head! I'm so glad you all have been taking cause and effect into consideration when developing this game!

Not only do I agree wholeheartedly with the content of your post, but also the manner in which you presented it. We need the DoL stealth ability they said was coming, and we need it now. If they're not going to put forth the effort to make sure the gathering points are reasonably accessible, then they MUST put in the effort to get the stealth ability done and implemented.

A stealth ability would be hugely appreciated. For those of us who actually truly enjoy the "stupid gathering mini-game," this is an important thing.

It's a shame there are so few of us gatherers though. Not enough voices to get a crown I think...

If or when they do add stealth abilities/spells/potions, I hope they do not turn off soon as you perform an action such as in FFXI. Most the time I get attacked while in the process of gathering, which a long delay before your character can respond to it. If not some lasting quality to the stealth buff, maybe just make a very small bubble of invincibility around the node itself. So that while you are actually performing the mini game you cannot be attacked. Soon as you've completed the node and walk away though, you would need to reapply your stealth buff.

Enjoyment of a task (menial or not) doesnt necessarily have a bearing on one's intelligence. I didnt mean to imply that it was "keeping me on the edge of my seat" but rather that i enjoyed the use of my time and that i can be productive in game while not requiring a ton of my attention.

I'm not one to get into an argument on a message board, so i'll defend my point and leave it at that. Tho, to imply that enjoying something that you do not makes someone stupid, is stupid in and of itself.

To the OP, can I recommend changing the title of the thread? Something along the lines of "Gathering point placement issues post 1.18" or "Difficulties reaching gathering locations post 1.18."? Something that may garner more attention from the community reps.

Come to think of it, can you change thread titles? I forget now.

Isn't there some stealth abilities you can buy with guildmarks? I don't have a rank 30 DoL class, so I have yet to test any of these abilities out. I have no clue how effective they are.

Yes I do have a My Little Pony sig because I'm not a complete loser who lives in his own little world, proclaiming something is stupid because I say so.

Actually you're incorrect here, the MP regen issue was to speed up downtime between battles because it was correctly identified the lack of MP regen, especially on non-DoM classes slowed the game's pace to the point it just wasn't much fun. Constantly running to an Aetheryte and binding every 10 mins simply wasn't a viable option, and for those DoW who didn't have Siphon MP/Stygian Spikes there was literally no other way to recover MP. The MP balancing in the last patch doesn't negate the benefit of MP regen at all, it just effectively drains a player's MP pool 3-4x faster (more if you include removal of AoE cures) without offering any type of recompense in return. But don't worry, the horse is coming in another 3-4 months to drag along this fun new carriage SE dropped on us!

"Variations to auto attack motions, as well as the ability to cast spells while in passive mode will be implemented in a later patch."

The lack of transportation is a bummer, but that ship has sailed and is going to be in port come the next patch. I suppose you make the observation to illustrate a point, but that point can't be "The cart came before the horse" because Yoshi P had no control then. You could, instead, make the point that the game was released unfinished. In that case, though, even Square Enix seems to agree since they're still not charging a fee.
He's had control for how long now? 9 months? We're on at least the 5th month of patches that are a result of solely his team's efforts. The last patch that had Tanaka's stamp on it was 11/25, the few after that were a mix of features in development already, and many planned changes from Tanaka's team were scrapped completely.

He's had plenty of time to address the core issues: large/small scale PvE content, Quest-based rewards/leveling, Transportation, Auction House, UI/Class changing. Instead of fixing these broken or missing core aspects of the game, they often break perfectly functional aspects of the game by introducing new problems without simultaneously introducing a remedy. I'm sorry you feel differently, but many people do NOT find this kind of work flow and game development acceptable, free or not, especially when this game has so few redeeming qualities about it to begin with.

You don't break the things people actually like about the game without offering an alternative, especially when there was nothing blatantly wrong with the functionality to begin with. Perhaps SE should adopt some "real world" sensibilities practiced by many disciplines, like Primum non nocere or by laymen, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and certainly don't go and BREAK it.

Consider that releasing the patch in its current state allows Yoshida to collect feedback now where it is easier to make changes. It is not what I would call an ideal solution, either, but I did want to see this patch come out sooner rather than later so I could see what kinds of changes were in store. Now that I can see them, I have my forum granted opportunity to be a part of the development process by providing feedback about how the patch has affected me.
Yes, and many have taken the opportunity to voice their displeasure at SE's practice of breaking things in the here and now while only offering an unknown commodity in the form of a remedy in a future patch. I'm sorry you feel this is acceptable and choose to spend your time here offering apologies and excuses for egregious mistakes, but the only way SE is going to realize this is not an acceptable means of bringing about change is if people voice their negative opinions on the matter.

It's not all "ponies and rainbows" but nor is it a poisoned beverage. Real life often turns out to be less than ideal, but the whole final fantasy 14 team is trying very hard to keep it as close as they can despite being only human. Ideally, we would do the same for them when speaking of their works.
Yes and those who don't learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them. Perhaps Yoshi-P can take a few tips from Tanaka and see where he went wrong there. Maybe start by not pissing off the core customers that have stuck with this game for this long. Sure life isn't all "ponies and rainbows", but if SE continues to poison their fanbase enough with changes like this, it might not kill them off completely, but it may certainly leave a distaste in the pallette that may linger forever and drive them away indefinitely.

Tanaka DOESNT think he did anything wrong.
