I agree. I play video games to escape that crap.
And unlike in RL Marriages, 'MMO marriages' are meaningless fluff.
If RP'ers want it, then let them set it up however they like... but don't waste dev resources on creating what a giant flamebait system when ARR has more serious issues that need to be addressed
How dose something like in-game marriage effect this though? How dose it stop you killing dragons etc? Chances are it will be something you can ignore completely, while those who wish to use such features can.Ok, I'll bite, but in a retrospective manner to my original post:
There is no need for overinflated political / opinionated RL views in an mmo.
Videogames are "supposed" to be a relaxing way for people to be entertained. Not a venue for speculative mindsets.
In an ideallistically jouvenile manner: When I log in (to this game) I want to kill things with giant swords and fireballs. I do not wish to be saturated by selective RL groups and their constant vie for real life acceptance. It's unfortunate enough that Selective groups are cramming their views down my throat daily in the real (North American) world. Let me kill Dragons in relative peace. Leave your RL issues at the door.
1) Spell checks Spell checks for everyone (including me)
2) How many religions/sects allow Polygamy?
3) How many countries in the world allow, by law, Polygamy?
4) Why do we "Need" marriages in game anyway?
I don't give a chocobodropping if you are married in RL and want to be married in game.
5) Leave real world problems in the real world, in game, everybody is the same, a bunch of pixels. Just that Miqo and lala are better than elezen.
As has been pointed out, how does someone in game getting married stop you from shooting fireballs or hitting things with your floppy sword? There is no need for overinflated political / opinionated RL views in an mmo.

It doesn't you can still do those, unless your worried you might get invited to said weddings? And judging by your post I doubt anyone would want you there
Wow, I can honestly say I didn't think my thread would garner all the negativity that it has... I thought after seeing how much support the same sex marriage threads had (yes, even though they had their share of bickering...) that maybe the community would be positive towards the idea of trying to help another group out who would enjoy trying to utilize in game features that align with their choices.
I won't give up hoping - that's for sure, but I certainly didn't come here to undermine same sex rights or any of the awful or ugly things I've read here. It makes me feel really crummy actually, to think that something I'm so excited and hopeful for is something people could see as possibly motivated by spite or a sense of petty vengeance.
First thing. Marriage is between 2 people, Male AND Female. Not 2 males or 2 females. Mark 10:6 says “ But from the beginning of creation, God made them Male AND Female. Marriage is something God made! Second thing, 1st Corinthians 7:2 says “But because of immoralities, each man is to have his own WIFE, and each woman is to have her own HUSBAND… See? One spouse. Male for Female and Female for Male. God has ordained it.
As soon as a Same-Sex Thread appeared i always said; Then i want polygamic relationships as well. I guess people thought i am joking, but if we go by the countries who actually have it legal compared to same-sex, it is interesting to see that more countries support polygamy than same-sex. On the other hand it is also in more countries forbidden than same-sex marriage is. There are also a good amount of countries which endure both.Wow, I can honestly say I didn't think my thread would garner all the negativity that it has... It can be indeed a political discussion but it should not. The same way like people say it should not about same-sex marriage. I would support it and would not mind if, neither do i care about same-sex marriage in the Game. But like some people here saying it is straight wrong to have polygamic relationships, but support same-sex is kind of.... hm.. whats the correct word... being a hypocrite?
Not everyone shares the same religion as you, so get of your high horse there. Some Religions actually support polygamy.First thing. Marriage is between 2 people, Male AND Female. And also:
"On February 14, 1650, the parliament at Nürnberg decreed that, because so many men were killed during the Thirty Years’ War, the churches for the following ten years could not admit any man under the age of 60 into a monastery. Priests and ministers not bound by any monastery were allowed to marry. Lastly, the decree stated that every man was allowed to marry up to ten women. The men were admonished to behave honorably, provide for their wives properly, and prevent animosity among them."

wow what a silly post for a already silly thing being added
While there was potential in the original post for the discussion of changes to a system that has been briefly outlined in the recent Producer's Letter Live, the thread itself has gotten very off topic with a combination of real life discussions, personal attacks, and what seems to be sarcasm. The written word makes it very hard to discern sarcasm, so I'll be providing the benefit of the doubt there in terms of account actions. Any reports that have been made will be investigated and handled appropriately; however, the thread will be closed due to the current state of the discussion. Please feel free to show your support for the original idea, if you like it, by using the "Like" button.
