If a DPS pulls aggro and dies, just sit back and laugh at them. Seriously, They can literally watch the threat table to know when they will pull so if it's surprising that it happened then they deserve it.

If a healer is pulling aggro (simply from healing you) then that is a good indicator that you are doing something wrong.

    Always remember the Silver Rule:
"Treat others as they treat you!" ...or something like that.

This. The little emnity indicators aren't just for the tanks to pay attention to. When I DPS, I pay attention to them and if I see I'm pulling too much hate, I switch targets.

It's not just the tank's role to keep up with the DPS, the DPS should be willing to slow down a bit if the tank's having issues. Everybody needs to work together... And contrary to popular belief, being super optimized for DPS output and doing your absolute highest DPS 100% of the time might not always be the best idea.

Sounds to me like OP's DPS took the easy way out and blamed OP rather than adjust their playing style to work with him.

    Why?

Why do people take it personally when they are not able to conduct the party the way that they want to? It is your job to make sure enemies are attacking you. I mean, there are definitely times when I feel that such a reaction is warranted... But most of the people who make these complaint threads are talking about their experience in a low level dungeon.

You know, where you are given plenty of room for error and having 2 decent players in your group usually means that you are going to finish the dungeon no matter what.

Most of the time you should use incidents like this to challenge yourself to be better at your job.

Maybe it's because I've played in groups where I know that answering the question "why didn't you pick that add up right away" with "because you didn't let me hit it first" is stupid, but as someone who primarily plays a Tank in this game - I have difficulty understanding why you would do something like this.

Pettiness takes time, unnecessary effort and doesn't kill bosses.

I like this part of your post. As a tank you should constantly work hard to be the best at your role. There are times, however, where it just ain't gonna happen. That mob isn't going to listen to you no matter what. Deal with it. Cover and let the DPS kill it.

Sometimes the motto is "you yank it, you tank it", other times it's "GIMMIE that back, don't touch my stuff!!"

I personally like when DPS pulls threat from me. Put's me to the test and forces me to work harder or think about what I didn't do to lock hate or what I could have done better to ensure it wouldn't leave. As I said though there will be times where it is unavoidable, i.e. BLM goin flare chain crazy.

From a DPS standpoint, really not hard to ensure you don't pull hate. Stay on the tanks main target for single dps. Watch the hate meter, green circle turn to a yellow triangle, then turn towards you...hmm time to lay off a bit. I like riding that line though as DPS. If I pull it I know its my fault and deal with it.

Not if you play a paladin, and you are in a group with a WHM, who loves to heal you whenever you fall below 95%.(with Regen on )
    below 40 ofc.
