in my personal opinion, as a tank, your job is to keep hate, but if you got stupid dps....let them die

in the end, a tank and healer can duo most of the dungeons without dps, they are disposable.....let them die a few times and learn their place

On my side, I'm leaning toward a group effort, which is supposed to be the whole responsibility, not only on the Tanks.

Right now me sitting at iLvl100, when partied in Expert Roulette with iLvl110 BLM and MNK and Healer.. is not the best scenario, if they don't play as intented.

It's not bec you are DPS that you need to smash buttons and then start blaming anyone if you die.

So yeah, before we go in, I'm asking if they can let me build a bit of aggro before jumping in.

As well, if they check their own aggro table (which they should, if only looking for the colours) then switch targets accordingly, makes things goes smoother.

So far, no one dies going that route.

Tank gets aggro, DPS are free to kill, healers heals.. and dps if they want to. Mob dead, move to the next. Kill last boss, get the super-duper potash, give commendations, and next! ^^

Agreed with you that PLD should have a little more threat buff, perhaps with lvl cap raise, our skill will be making Bahamut to cry in a corner (wishful thinking)

We all just have to remember that it's perfectly OK to wipe. We learn to play with each other, as randoms, for a little 30-45 mins. No need to stress out, it's a game, intented to have some 'fun' in it lol

*yesterday, Stone Vigil HM: Me and my GF (BLM), a BRD and WHM. WHM seems to lag and.. don't stoneskin much, to the point I am the one doing it. Then he kinda catch up, and.. do it slightly more often (I'd say better than nothing)

Then at around mid-point, WHM said to my GF: Guess BLM is your 5th or 6th job right? lol

I then replied: Same could be said for you now lol

We ended up clearing the Dungeon in one shot, no issue.

So what's the rage all about? No need and make things goes.. sour and of course, commendations to the Bard (Kudos)

We are not Pro's, and don't intend to be. For me, as long as you clear whatever you go in, you're good enough to be my friend ^^

It makes me real sad this thread keeps getting bumped. I have tanked since 2.0 and have never seen undeserved disrespect toward me or any other tank beyond the random Troll that decides to grace us with their presence. If you do your job, you'll most likely get nothing but praise and a beautiful flow of Commendations. Point being, if you are receiving insults/disrespect, especially consistently enough to come to OF and post about it.. you most likely aren't doing things right. While many can go about expressing that fact a little better, at least take a look at yourself and realize you can improve in an area. If its trolls being trolls, just put on your big girl/boy pants and move on, they are in every online interaction you'll ever be involved in.

Maybe, but that combo doesn\\'t have an enmity add effect and I don\\'t expect the cleave in that chain would, either. RoH would be nice as a cleave skill, but it leaves lower level paladins with only Flash still which is not as good as Overpower. Leveling Paladin has been painful compared to the more or less AFK tanking you can do as a warrior....snip

All paladin needs to bring it in line with warrior is a better AoE threat gen. Warrior get overpower, steel cyclone and flash (I think that's it). We get flash and CoS. If SE were to add in another fairly potent AoE hit after riot blade (around 175 potency with a 3x multiplier), preferably MP based to make sense with the MP regeneration of RB it would be great. That would mean paladins had slightly better off tank dps, warriors slightly better tank dps but both could handle AoE and single target situations fine.

Or they could just improve Flash so that it's on par with Overpower and disallow Warriors to cross equip it. Or switch around when sword and shield oath are given (SE's obsession with every class being based in DPS is really detrimental to the overall balance of the game). I'm not sure that just adding in something after Riot would solve the AoE issues paladin has at low levels. You're sacrificing a threat generation combo by doing the riot blade chain to begin with, so you are even more dependent on flash which we all can agree isn't as good as overpower. There's a bigger risk of losing monsters before you get that chain completed even if there was a bigger threat return should it land on all monsters. It would have to be a fairly large AoE, and even then with the way monsters "queue up" attacks and can't be interrupted even with a provoke, you're looking at a teammate getting smacked at least once before you are back in control again.

I agree with Traek. So much hate for dps on this thread but will say if some of us wait seconds and also apply Quelling Strikes and yet still get agro (even with lower gear then tank)
well then you should learn your class better. It's one thing for a dps to be stupid and attacking different targets or ahead of time. Also to those tanks that decide to pull like 3 sets of mobs, well learn to keep agro as well. As blm it is obvious that i would aoe. Tanks that can keep agro always get commendations from me, but those like some of you who are so high up on your own Pedestal do not. I have had tanks in the past bitch at the group when we wiped stating "Learn how to do your damn jobs" but this guy did like 3 or 4 pulls and just could not keep agro and then Rage quit.
And yes i have tanked before, i first started this game as PLD a while back when the game first came out. Case in point treat others with respect if you want some back.
