If the party makes it clear they don't need/wand your tanking, you can always log off, take 10min break for tea/internet/chatting and try again.

This is why the tank will get my commendation 95% of the time - it's a royal pain to lead the party most of the time. I have always preferred healing but playing a PLD I've realized what a nuisance it can be when players (primarily DPS) whine about pace or pulling unnecessary mobs.

I dunno, as of late I've never had an issue tanking. I usually move fast and flash enough to keep aggro.

One think tanks need to stay alert of is the party aggro bar thats on the party list. If you see someone creeping up pop a flash or w/e

Recently created a new alt in a new server just for fun, and decided to start off as a GLD/PLD. After fresh off lv50, went on to AK for relic quest.

Granted, my ilv at that time was 58 but thats even after i bought a lv70 weapon and some gears with that much gil i got at that time.

And there i queued for AK and i got a SCH and a dual SMN for a party. All of which, overgeared for that dungeon. It can be a tanking nightmare for novice tanks to deal with this party setup which spamming dots to all mobs pulled.

It's quite a work to keep agro on the mobs when the dpa including the healers dotting the mobs. But its a challenge for me which i like. But yeah, these people could be more considerate if the tank is really a novice. That poor chap would run around chasing mobs to gain enmity haha

The early game for tank are pretty annoying if the dps choose to mess you over but once you hit 30 for warrior or 40 for paladin you will have a easy time

After recently levelling my PLD to 50, I've noticed a recurring pattern in instances.

I make a habit of letting players know when anything is my first time, that way it doesn't come as a surprise when I make a mistake. (Which I inevitabely end up doing half the time.) However, even after telling people that I'm a first timer PLD, I get no sort of advice at all when I actually make a crucial mistake which ends up affecting the party. Instead I get told "It's your fault" etc etc. And I can't help but wonder... How the f**k am I supposed to grow from that? I would have loved it if anyone actually told me what I was doing wrong, that way I could actually get better and improve myself. Sadly it seems the general consensus in these cases simply go "Blame the new guy."

Whenever I tanked dungeons on my way up to 50, I always made a habit of explaining mechanics to fresh players. I take a lot of pride in helping those I can, but I am shocked at how unfriendly the end-game community is. I hope it won't always be like that, because learning to be a good tank is not fun in a zero-tolerance for mistakes environment.

I'll stop there. Happy tanking fellow tanks. =)

PS (1000 chr. limit is meh) >_>

I totally agree with your there, its like end-game content users were never once new to something and its an exclusive club with no room for anyone to be new or make mistakes.

Well i'm done, i tanked in WoW and AoC, but this game needs a revision.
if you know your healer, or at least the healer dont know the dps doing it, tell the healer not to heal the dps and let that dps tank the mobs

its fun to let disposable garbage get burned a few times
