Eh, a player with appropriate level 49 accessories and 90-110 left side gear is less of a drain on a party than someone with 50-60 left side gear, and 90-100 accessories. And a player SBing that knows how to play their character is far more effective than a player decked out but clueless.

It doesn't make sense to harass someone just because you think they'll be bad.

    The Tank disrespect is real.

I was doing a roulette in Haukke normal yesterday and a DPS decided to pull a group of mobs. I said "Let me pull". He told me I was moving too slow.

Dumb Dumb then called me a 'nerd' (lol) and proceeded to talk sh*t for the rest of the dungeon.

I've never heard an adult use the word 'nerd' to insult anyone, so I'm thinking this was a teen/pre-teen/immature adult...but that's beside the point.

If you go to fast, some ppl complain. If you go to slow, some ppl complain. If you die, the healer will say "You went down fast" or some other passive way of blaming you. If both DPS decide to single-target a different mob and pull hate, you're blamed for losing hate.

Why? Because tanks are leaders. They set the pace for the dungeon. A good tank and a good healer is often the difference between a smooth run and a terrible one. In 90% of the content you can basically get by with below average DPS and a good tank and healer. It's only when you get to the few DPS checks (Ramuh's Adds, Ifrit's Nail, Titan's Heart, T4, T6 Super Slug, etc) do you absolutely NEED good DPS numbers. So if something, anything goes wrong, people look at the people who are most vital to success. And it isn't DPS. I say that as a BLM (ilvl 102) main.

TL;DR - Tanks and healers are highly-visible while DPS are not. You may not notice if one of the DPS isn't up to snuff, and it might not even factor into your success, but if you have a bad tank or healer, YOU'LL NOTICE. It stands to reason we'll get the bulk of the blame when things go south.

If the pace you're setting is slow (and the way you frame the situation makes it very unclear if you were actually slow or if he was extremely impatient) then expect some disgruntled "followers".

    Anyone can lead.

I agree with the first statement, that if you're moving at a snail's pace people will become impatient. I wasn't moving slower than usual and I'm generally good for 2 recommendations. The point I was making was that tanks can expect to hear complaints.

The comment in red is technically correct. Anyone can lead...but everyone can't lead WELL.

Not my story, but my friend is learning tanking, and I did a run with him of Toto-rak. He's about 27 marauder right now, and asked at the beginning if it was ok to do an XP run because he doesn't want to have to run Toto-rak more than he needs to. Everyone agreed and said that was fine. But near the end, the lancer seemingly got impatient and was attacking things ahead of the tank, including the final boss. The lancer took damage from grabbing initial aggro and was like "..." in chat and my friend apologized even though it wasn't his fault. I mean if you're not going to let the tank pull, don't then say something about how the tank didn't pull. -_-

If dps give drama, give them kick

    Tank protects Healer
    Healer protects Tank
    DPS are on their own...

...though good DPS are valued, and sometimes should be protected.

sorry, but if dps are acting like tools, i just let them tank. i stand aside until either they die or the mobs go for someone else(preferably the former). but i usually give them a warning. this usually isn't a problem as i'm a fast puller and tend to do speedruns and all that, but some dps just completely rush ahead for some odd reason.
