Combat GC restrictions in frontlines

-To allow the ability to play with friends in a MMORPG
-To keep frontlines alive
-To keep frontlines fun
-To keep the ability to be any GC you want without restrictions

Examples of ways to combat this:

1. Allow you temporary GC status of whoever the party leader is that is queueing for frontlines.

2. Make frontlines FC based off grand company affiliation

3. Remove the PVP rank reset penalty for changing grand companies

I completely agree, after putting in 50-100 hours grinding PvP putting up with long queues this is a complete dealbreaker. Any of your suggestions would solve the issue and should be easy to implement.


Would it help to move this to a forum elsewhere where it may get more visibility?

The one thing I would like more clarification on would be, if I am an Immortal Flame, and my Friend is a Maelstrom, will we be 100% unable to enjoy Frontlines together in the same party, as its currently designed, unless one of us switches GCs?

That is correct, Unable to queue as the members of different GCs in the same party.

Personally I don't have an issue with 'factions', even though it is a poor design in my opinion.

Although, removing the PVP rank reset penalty for changing your Grand Company would be great overall.

I hope we get some more clarity about Frontlines as patch day comes closer.

I remember switchig GCs wasn't all that hard.
Run a few dungeons etc.
Nothing big, just grab a few friends and do it. Other than that i'm all for the whole let ppl play with each other regardless of gc.
It should be like if you go in as a premade you should be allowed to be put into the same faction together just for that 1 game.
Upon entering the match, your gc will be changed to that of the team you and your friends are put in. Everyone is repping a gc, everyone gets to play together, randoms will be auto sorted into their gc. Riggggght?

There are problems with this idea...


#1) GC Gear is restricted to the GC that it came from.
For example, If you purchase the Lominsan Soldier's Boots and use them as a Glamour, switching to a different GC makes them un-usable.
#2) PvP Rank is GC related.
I have a friend who is currently Rank 17 with Twin Adders, and its taken him months to get that back since he was rank 18 with Maelstrom before he switched.
#3) There is an Earth Time restriction to switching.


Bigger issues have to do with... Queue Time Balance and Playing with Friends. Currently it is known that there is a great imbalance across all servers towards 2 of the 3 Grand Companies. While this will not directly effect match play, it will create further complications for those having to wait longer. It is known that MMO players will almost always choose the path of least resistance. Meaning if one side's queue times are significantly longer then people will start switching GCs and it will worsen over time.

FFXI understood the realities of playing with friends. Ballista allowed players to join any team they wished in order to play with friends. I really hope that YoshiP&Co. figure this out quickly.

Oh and no Glamours in Frontlines? Seriously... With the loss of Moral on gear (which I am on board with to some extent) the PvP gear we will be earning is purely Glamour bait and we can't even use them in Frontlines? Come on now...

If this is true I feel a lot of people won't play Frontlines if they resitrict it to your GC. When we chose the GC we were never told this would effect the future of the game and the people we get to play with. If your going to force people to play for their GC you need to remove the restrictions on switching between them.
