Materia meld caps for Disciples of Land #2

First, this is just continuation from original thread found here. The next information are compilations from previous thread and only meant as reference so that players have idea what to meld on each gears when they hit level 50 and starts to attempt working on the iLevel 70+ main tool & head introduced from Patch 2.2.

    ********************************************************************************
    EDIT:

Regarding to main stat on each playable race, there is a note might be useful here.
Good for another though for your melding plans.
    ********************************************************************************

Here are the minimum requirement players need to gather higher rating stuff, along with minimum chance nailing HQ:
1* - 370 gathering & 332 perception (important for farming Umbral rock/Fragrant Log HQ for getting your Foragers tools & hat)
2* - 408 gathering & 389 perception(theoretically, that means having all forager stuff, max meld on every gears, and adding grade 3 gathering materia for off-tools to meet these requirements)
3* - varies between 420-450 gathering & 420-450 perception (definitely need you gears max melded, and depending whether you have Lucis main hand or not, you might or might not need to meld your off tools)
Below those requirements and the attempt on that particular high rating node will always display 0% gathering/perception chance.

Also, reaching 600 GP will help a great deal.

As for Fisher, just disregard any need of GP melding since the class obviously have no use for it.

The format are STAT: AMOUNT, and the amount is the number that can be added to the item, not the total.

    History:
    G - Gathering
    P - Perception
    @ - GP
    Body/Hand/Legs/Feet - Crafted Foragers
    Bracelets - Militia Bracelets
Off Tools - Crafted (Forager's for 2.4+, pre 2.3 - Militia Sledgehammer / Militia Scythe)
Belt - Dodore Survival Belt (2.4+), Raptorskin Survival Belt (pre 2.3)
Neck - Dodore Choker (2.4+), Raptorskin Choker (pre 2.3)
Ears - Rose Gold Earrings of Gathering (2.4+), Electrum Earrings (pre 2.3)
    Ring - 2 x Dodore Ring (2.4+), or Raptorskin Ring (pre 2.3)

Max stat for Armor and Tools (HQ caps)
    Off Tools [G: 14, P: 25, @: 4]
    Head (old AF only) [G: 4, P: 11, @: 4]
    Body [G: 12, P: 6]
    Hand [G: 10, P: 4]
    Belt [G: 4, P: 3, @: 4]
    Legs [G: 6, P: 1, @: 4]
    Feet [G: 1, P: 6, @: 4]

    Accessories [HQ caps]
    Bracelets [G: 4, P: 4, @: 10]
    Neck [G: 4, P: 4, @: 8]
    Ears [G: 4, P: 4, @: 8]
    Ring [G: 4, P: 3, @: 4]

Patch 2.3 information on new accessories:
I'll be borrowing information from here. Unfortunately, crafter need to unlock these from the newest Master Recipe which will heavily involved the new crafting feature: Desynthesis. And in case any miner/botany hasn't invest much on the old accessory sets, these new ones are more recommended.

    To summarize:
    - If you have resources to obtain these, Fisher can swap gather accessories with iLevel 70 battle accessories (excluding belt since it has base perception stats). Note that NQ & HQ version have same max meld stats.
    - Max meld (as of now) on each pieces are 5 gathering & 5 perception.
    - Overall added stats are 9 gathering & 9 perception.

    **************************************************

Anyways, just to help, here's my setup which is shared on both my miner & botany gears as of pre-patch 2.3 (again, just take out GP melding from AFs for fisher):

    History:
Gear - Materia Setup (Stats overall). ex: G-IV - Gatherer's Guerdon Materia IV (Gathering +6)
    G - Gatherer's Guerdon Materia
    P - Gatherer's Guile Materia
    @ - Gatherer's Grasp Materia
    (red) - overmelds
Also for general reminder, can't meld grade 4 materia on gears below level 50. Just warning in case someone went overboard with it. lol

    Main tools - Foragers i70
Off tools - G-IV (for reaching min requirement of 2* mats gathering)

    Head - Foragers i70
    Body - P-IV G-IV G-III @-I
    Hand - G-III P-II G-I @-I
    Legs - G-IV @-IV P-I
    Feet - P-IV @-IV G-I

    Belt - @-III G-I P-I @-I
    Neck - @-III @-II @-II G-I P-I
    Ears - @-III @-II @-II G-I P-I
    Bracelets - @-IV G-II P-II @-II @-I
    Ring - @-III G-I P-I @-I

Note that you don't have to follow same melding plan as I do. Just check market and plan your melding from there.

Hope that helps and I do encourage others for supplying their own melding setups. ^^

My general rule for meldings (not to be taken as only rule, merely suggestions):
    • Always start from higher tier. The further you overmeld, higher tier will tax greatly on your success rate while lower tier will ease them.
    • Always check market board 1st. Generally you want to invest your first melds on something that's more expensive than the latter.
    • For extra notes: if you plan to farm through spiritbonding, also take notes of which materia stat commonly produced against the rarer ones. Based on those, you would also wanted to meld hard-to-get first. Usually market prices will reflect these outcomes.

As a note to fishers, you can meld i70 battle accessories with +5 each Gathering and Perception. This gives you +9 over using gathering accessories.

My Fisher alt: Eva Destruction, check her accessories.

I have yet to find any higher level belt a gatherer can wear.

That's actually great, especially since gathering accessories only has GP stat.

Is that the meld cap on each pieces though? And in conjunction with quality too, since several of yours are NQ.

Actually, I discovered something disturbing about Forager's Hat. It has one less GP than a fully-melded headpiece, and that one GP is more significant than you might think.

If I didn't screw up my math, if you meld as much GP as possible onto all of your gear, including your ilvl 55 hat but EXCLUDING your off-hand tool, you wind up with 620 GP. If you then eat HQ Beef Stew or HQ Dzemael Gratin, you will reach 650 GP. With the Forager's Hat and HQ food, though, you can only reach 649 GP UNLESS you meld GP onto your off-hand tool - which could well be considered a waste of a meld when most would prefer to add more Perception or Gathering.

Multiples of 50 are magic numbers for gatherers, as all gatherer job abilities are multiples of 50. That extra 50 GP could mean another 5% success rate at the very least. It's irritating that the "ultimate headpiece" actually causes problems in this way.

Edit: As of Patch 2.3 and the addition of extra GP to various accessories, the -1 GP from Forager's Hat is no longer an issue. As of 2.3, other accessories provide more than enough GP to cover the difference, without being enough to have to worry about the next GP tier (700 GP is still well out of reach).

Yeah - I've noticed that the moment I've got my first Forager's hat Had all the DoL gear "perfectly" melded for 600GP sweetspot and - BOOM! - I've suddenly dropped to 599. Needed to add another GP materia just because of that ...

Guess you were right. I removed the comment besides the hat to avoid misleading.

With max melded head, it only lost 7 perception to Forager's Hat which could be melded into off tools. Although... that would mean risk of overmelding since off tools only has 1 free meld slot.

In the end, I think Forager's still better choice overall since it could lessen the overmelding burden on off tools. Sucks about 1 less CP though, but I got my i70 tools without it or even foods.

Consider this though. If you don't use Foragers, you're giving up 7 Perception, but you do not need to meld GP materia to your offhand to reach the 650 sweet spot. You can freely meld three Guile 4s (along with your Guerdon 4 and Guerdon 3) for a total of +18 Perception. However, if you instead used Foragers and melded only two Guile 4s to your offhand (along with the Guerdon 4 and Guerdon 3), you gain a total of +19 Perception (+7 from Foragers, +12 from 2 Guile 4s) compared to the +18 (from 3 Guile 4s) you'd have otherwise.

So, there's really no reason not to use Foragers with the current setup. Except, of course, at some point there will be more accessories for gathering released, at which time you'll possibly wish you'd melded that last Guile 4...

For the i70 battle accessories, NQ and HQ have the same meld caps. Also no difference between the leather or rose gold in meld caps. Eva has rose gold because my Goldsmith is max melded except for the off hand, My leathersmith is mostly in Patrician's armor.

Thx for confirming. Updated 1st post with your information. ^^

As for additional note, I've gotten my Forager fishing pole only 2 days ago using all gathering gears. Took me about 4-5 days and 52 NQ silver sovereigns.

Still considering switching to i70 battle accessories for hunting big fishes, but as of now the myth mats to make those are still not cheap. Plus, I still need to save funding for 3 more i70 DoH tools left. lol
