"Why should I play?" - Your chance to give these boards a positive spin.

With all the negative threads throughout the boards (which is expected with the state of the game) I thought it would be interesting to have at least one thread that was somewhat positive.

If a friend came up to you, asked you why they should play FFXIV, and you absolutely had to give them at least one positive reason or the universe would implode, what would you tell them? Try to go along with this, because this could also be your chance to have the devs find out what you LIKE about the game. Perhaps it is something that will stay through all the changes that are apparently on the horizon.

This thread is not for people to argue about what should/shouldn't be implemented, so please avoid getting into that kind of argument.

For me, I'd explain to my friend that it is one of the only current MMOs that isn't almost a decade old that allows you to progress a SINGLE character with every class, so you don't ever need to reroll an alt. That is the biggest thing this game has going, in my opinion, which is well ahead of many other MMOs right there.

The skin on everything in this game is silky smooth. I would recommend getting that recipe.

Hmmmm. I wouldn't recommend this game at all and i play almost everyday so i guess /implode!!! This game for me right now is an underdog draft pick with a lot of potential.

The graphics are top-notch. Once they get an enjoyable battle system implemented with flashy battle animations, and a lot more content added this game will be very good!

Meh depends, content wise not much to go on. On the plus side, its free and you can get some of the grinding out of the way as new content is being added in. So the only thing you lose is your time and soul. O.o As a gamer I think that is a fair deal. :O

You only pay 30 dollars, after that you get to play without a monthly fee for the next couple months or even year.

So you get to see the game evolve and improve over time first hand.

Years from now you can tell your grand children how you walked 15 miles to Gridania every day

I don't play (beats her pc for breaking) But if I sold it to someone (and they had no idea about the game)
My first thing is play this game, it is one of few games heck prob the first mmo to use motion capture in its development. Character movements were done by real people, every action in the game fron a pc/npc was acted out by a person. Much like the movie avatar.

Well. Do you like Final Fantasy? Then play FFXIV.

You're going to get alot of trolls telling you, "game sucks... blahh blahh complain complain..."

Funny thing is. When SE gets the game turned upright and running on all cylinders then the impatient and negative complainers who either didn't play the game or quit too soon will be VERY far behind the people who remained patient and positive.

Your decision: Either devote yourself to a very nice future pay-off OR do the easy thing and give up like a lot of the whiners on these and just about every other FFXIV forum.

I personally love the series. I alos love FFXIV. I have made my decision and I stand by it.
