    Unending dilemma X_X

Soo... I've been playing this game since Sept (when the game was officially re-released) with an approximate 2 or 3 month break around Dec - Feb/Mar. In all of this time I still can't nail down a job for me to main as! I don't know what I'm looking for exactly by posting this on the forums but encouragement/advice would definitely be nice. My problem is every time I play a class for a while then I feel the sudden urge to try something new, like the job that I've been playing just isn't 100% satisfying. I don't expect people I've never met to know exactly what it is I need but if anyone else has ever had this problem and has either come to terms with this or finally settled down with a Job I would definitely like to hear from any of you guys!

Well, if you are satisfied with your overall game experience, why settle down with one class at all? That is, after all, the beauty of FF14 class system....? If you have the time and endurance to level all of them and your dungeon performance is halfway decent, just enjoy!

The only problem with playing a bunch of classes is gearing them past i91. I would say it's beneficial to play through all the content as one of the 3 roles. It will make you a better player since you know what other roles should be doing and what you yourself should not be. Also depending on the fight you might want to learn both how to Off-tank, main-tank, play as a ranged dps, and play as a melee dps.

I've done almost all content as every role and have decided to main as a tank because it's easier to get party spots. I don't know how some people can stand more than 10+ minute waits in queues. If for some reason I'm not getting instant queues I'll hop on my healer so I rarely play DPS.

I feel the same way about the queues. I've geared WHM up to ilvl89 (my "main" for raid purposes at this time) and when I try to queue as anything DPS the wait just feels rediculous in comparison. I also work overnights so when I'm on my weekend queueing as a DPS when nobody is awake is retarded (1 hour sometimes). I have PLD at 31 but nothing about it feels amazing to me... I think I'll just try WAR next and see what I think. If I ever play anything close range axes always feel the best (especially when Skyrim was a thing). I like healing but its feeling really repetitive. I have SCH at ilvl 83, I think I like it a bit better than WHM but I think I should def give tanking more of a shot before settling down. I've never been much of a DPSer anyway.

This is a common problem with MMORPG's, there are just so many more people who play DPS than there are people playing a tank or healer. So it's far from retarded. I know it must suck to wait for a hour or maybe even longer. But you can not really expect or blame people not to be on to be on at the late hours, they do need sleep as well.

However, you could always try waiting till a busier time of the day or switch worlds if that option is not doable for you.

I live in the EU myself and play on a US server because I like to play late at night and me being EU makes me about 6 hours ahead of the US, so I can be certain loads of people will be on when I'll be playing.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply that this game is ridiculous/retarded because people need to address their basic human needs :P. I just felt like I should post the normal average wait time for overnight DPS because the average person doesn't play until the wee hours of the morning and I wanted to give them perspective.

Anyway, to refocus this thread: my concern/issue isn't with the times at which I play because that definitely can't change (however your suggestions have been noted). The class/job I play as definitely can change and that is where the issue is.

You could go with Summoner, Dragoon or a Bard if you really want a DPS. I am still deciding myself, because I have never been a big fan of melee fighting and I've always liked a good bow in action. However, if you want to be in charge of a (little) group, tank would be a good option, since they basically lead the instances. My boyfriend plays a Warrior and he enjoys playing it.
Its really what you prefer doing, do you like melee or ranged more? Doesn't have to be this game, any game. Because if your preference lies with Melee combat I would suggest Dragoon, since they're a lot of fun with their jumping around.

I have had the same problem as you, and I always have it in MMO's

You're main is a healer, so it's not exactly the same as me, cause I only want to play dps...

If you enjoy playing either tank or healer, then I would suggest playing that, cause if you're like me, you will always want to play something else, and you might as well choose the best options...

My tip is to change main job every time it's possible to do so without loosing out too much. I was maining SMN until they removed the Myth weekly cap, meaning I could quickly catch up with my DRG without falling behind.

I don't know how it will be with 2.4. If they remove Sol cap etc, I could easily change again and start over, and once again not loose anything. I will probably play Ninja in 2.4 though...

This might sound ridiculous, but it has worked for me.

I also play almost exclusively on one job at the time. So right now I always play DRG, which might sound like it would become boring, but as I get better and better on the job (could probably play blindfolded in some fights), it gets more fun actually, and I don't want to change job as badly as I did before.

It's going to be a while before 2.4 is here, so I might change main job before that, seeing as I already have maxed our my Sol gear, and can gear up another job.
