However, I'd like to point out that my connection is no longer going through LEVEL 3 and WATA switches in Canada. Because of that I'm no longer getting the 9000 errors. In fact I don't get any packet loss anymore.
In my case, it is not about the network issues. I'm sure about this because my niece and I we share the internet at home, and we both are playing at Tonberry. He can play the game without any problem but I cannot. I've even try to login in my account from his computer and the result is still the same. My account cannot get through the loading screen (Error 90000), while my niece account can login without any problem at all. So I'm sure that there must be something wrong with my account.
If you've set up port forwarding on your router, try disabling it (don't really even need UPnP active either). Today's NAT implementations should be able to handle it just fine. By designating specific ports/ranges to forward to a specific device, you could be shooting yourself in the foot--NAT should manage which system set up connections to what server and manage things just fine on it's own. I have 2 decades of online gameplay, nearly half of it with FFXI/XIV and have never needed to forward ports for any of my games--not even when my daughter is online with the PS3 or playing games on her phone/ipod/laptop/PC. Port Forwarding is more of a diagnostic maneuver to help skirt around some potential issues that you may not know could be interfering that in <most normal cases> really shouldn't be in play at all.
On that note, you may find that some of the security on the router is causing issues. You can try toggling/lowering the level of some of the options like Secure NAT, DDoS Protection, etc. Some settings may be under WAN/LAN config or Firewall. Some have even gone so far as to turn off or loosen up security on the router's firewall, which is typically fine if you have a decent firewall on your system already and use safe practices when accessing the internet/email and such. If your router doesn't provide a good enough description in the online help/documentation, you can usually find a "layman's terms" explanation by googling the setting.

If it is about my router and the port forwarding as you mention, how come my niece can login and i cannot on the same computer?
Sorry.. missed that. Thought you were on different systems. See a lot of people having problems like this that are on separate systems and port forwarding is the root of the problem because they've basically locked some specific parts of the server communication to only go to one device with the forwarding rule.
Typically if the only response you are getting is about a connection lost, it means pretty much just that. The socket has dropped for some reason. Are you both in the same Windows User Profile? If not, your login may have security that gets in the way while hers does not. If you are in the same Windows profile, it may be an issue with your player data locally--corrupted file that prevents it from loading properly and the game errors out, but isn't doing it gracefully so you just get the connection lost error.
You could try renaming your character's top profile folder by appending _OEM to the end of it (the FFXIV_CHR1234567890ABCDEF folder) to see if you can force it to download the critical components with your next login. If it works, you will not have your macroes and hotbar settings and such and will need to copy them in from the old profile folder. Do them one at a time or in batches in case one of them makes the problem come back, then you know which one needs to be rebuilt manually.
You could also try the restore option from within the launcher after you log in (don't hit the green Play button yet). That is, if you've previously saved your character data to the server. Otherwise, your only option might be a Windows system restore or other Backup/Recovery option you may be using--start with the most recent restore and work your way backwards. Just remember this may undo other changes that have been made to the system as well.
Other than doing these kinds of things to recover local files, it could be something at the server level that you would need to take up directly with SE through the support portal contact options.

I'm having this problem right now along with 10105 error. Also on Tonberry, I've tried reinstalling the game redownloading the game clearing documents to redownload all patches and start with fresh settings, ports are forwarded and confirmed opened it just refuses to let me log in.
Windows 8.1 x64
Nvidia GT 630M
Intel i5 2.5GHz
And today we have lag issues, but not a problem. Maintenance in 3 minutes will last for 13 minutes and apparently fix the issue. Fingers crossed. "[Cause] server equipment"
I always have 90k error and its weird that I never had any laggin/dc issuse when I played in beta nor in the 1st month of playin , I have been blaming my ps3 from the start but as I see alot of people have it too then it might be not it .
