    Game Lag after patch 1.18

After I completed install of 1.18 and began to play, I noticed that every five seconds or so the game freezes for a frame or two. Whatever button i'm pressing at the time gets triggered again after it unfreezes, killing spells-mistargeting-throwing camera outta wack--etc. so its making the game quite unplayable. I have a 3.33 i7 with dual nvidia in sli and 24gb ram. I've tried reinstalling ffxiv, video drivers, messing with config settings and nothing is working. Any help appreciated.... even a bump to say you have this prob too would make me feel better lolz

Just thought i'd contribute to this thread.

I had exactly the same problem. If i ran straight, i had no problems. If i was running left to right, my character regularly got stuck running in one direction, and i was no longer able to control it for a second. If i was standing still and spinning my camera in one direction, i could see that the FoV cone in my minimap frroze at the exact moment this weird lag kicked in. One second, and everything was working normally again. This lagspike occurred every 5 seconds.

I have a powerful watercooled pc, and i have absolutely no problems running this game, as i have major overclocks. After reformatting my comp and installing this game to a SATA-III SSD (separate from the other SATA-II SSD my win7 is on), my problems started.

First, i double-checked i had all the ports open, i had no other traffic in my network and that my firewall was configured properly. After that i tried to disable firewall and removing the port configurations for FFXIV from my router.

I upgraded all the drivers i could, trying FFXIV every time i upgraded something, with no results. I tried removing overclocks, and even underclocking, with no viable results. After i read OP's post, i plugged in my wireless controller (the usb-receiver was connected and working the whole time, though i didn't remember to install any drivers to it after reformatting my comp) and mapped the keys in ffxivconfig, this lag was gone.

I did not upgrade or even install any drivers for my joypad. It's using the ones that Win7 installs automatically. The game is now working as intented, and from what i've learned, i shouldn't try to fix anything that's not broken. So i'm not going to install any drivers for it. My joypad is "Cideko Airboard Conqueror" with scandinavian layout. Ffxivconfig recognizes it as "AK08b device".

Thanks for posting, Lochan, i was on the verge of losing my mind.
