    vs.

7 other people wanting to hurry up. Damn the noob watching cutscenes, those 7 want their tomes now! That's pretty selfish, even if it's 7 people. They want their tomes, and damning everyone else is being selfish too. Not being considerate of anyone else, in this case, the new player is being selfish.
    For my part:

I don't think a person is being selfish for watching the cutscenes, I think they're being selfish if they demand others wait for them if they do. Like the OP is doing.

I don't think it's right for the 7 others to badger, belittle or kick a new player because they're watching the cutscenes SE put in there when it's their first run.

So I *think* we're pretty much on the same page?

They're getting tomes. To stand around and wait. Yes, that's how it works.
If they run ahead and kill everything, yes, they're being selfish.

Empathy does not mean "Oh, 7 people want to grind; I guess I will ruin my first time experience" or "Oh, the majority are selfish; I guess I should let them push me around."

Empathy means, "I was new once. I remember what that is like. Let's make sure the noob has fun, and hope they help the next noob have fun."

It's a lot more fun to be a gamer than a grinder.
I get what you're saying. But standing around waiting for someone to watch 20+ minutes worth of cutscenes isn't really playing the game either. It's standing there wasting your time.

You may consider it playing the game as designed, but the design was poor in this particular instance.

Bzzt! Wrong answer! Group 1 wants to control others through threats, insult, and actions. Group 2, is there to enjoy the game. Dictators are about controlling people, make them do what they want. Group 2 is not interested in controlling how others play. They are there to enjoy the game, help where they can, but are willing to contribute to the group. The very fact you think both are dictators, now proves you are not worth my time or energy. Sorry I am skipping past any further posts from you. If this forum had a blacklist fuction, I'd be using it.

And I agree with you. People should remember these are story dungeons, the key word is story. Not grind dungeon, story dungeons. Story is told in these dungeons. People should have the freedom to experience the story their first time around. Bottom line: People should stop bullying new people who are wanting to experience the story this game offers. This game isn't world of warcraft, where there is no real story just grind. This game is a story driven game.

If this was a D&D board game, and a couple people begin getting rude towards the new to the game guy and kick him out of the game halfway through, I'd tell them they were rude and I don't play with bullies and get up and leave with the kicked out guy. Games are about having fun. And for many many players, myself included, the games story telling is fun to experience and they should have the freedom to not only queue for the dungeon for their quests, but to experience the story as it happens.

Democracy at work. If the vote to kick passed then OP deserved to be kicked. Seven people > one. The one person who wants to hold up seven other people is the jerk in the scenario. It's that simple. Maybe I'd be more sympathetic if there was no way to view the CS ever again, but the inn is there for a reason. Be respectful of people's time and skip cutscenes.

Group 2 wants to enjoy the game at the expense of others.This. This right here is what your not getting. If you are the person in group 2 then you should be asking if you can watch the CSs not just dive into a CS and stay there without saying anything. If this person asks at least the the rest of party can get a heads up that they will be down a healer for however long.

    Also...I can't believe I missed this a while back. I don't usually do that...

That depends on your definition of "work." If you mean circumvent it to your will through force (call GMs to "punish" who you don't like) then no. You are wrong. If you mean voice your concern to others so that others can have a vote and a say in the matter then yes you are correct.

Notice I haven't told you to shut up even once throughout our little debate. Why? Because even though I may not agree with you, I will defend to the death your right to say it. That is true democracy.

How is thread still alive? Fact: SE already said kicking for watching cutscenes is fine by them. Hence, no matter your stance on it all opinions are moot. If you want a 100% chance of not getting kicked and you give a crap about cutscenes watch the cutscenes back in the inn.

"Although we understand the impact that is caused after being removed from a duty finder group, please be aware that Game Masters will be unable to take action if a group member has been removed due to a player dispute, or if their game style differs (i.e. skipping in-game cutscenes, disagreement on using specific boss encounter tactics etc).

To avoid such incidents in the future, we would advise to speak with either the group leader or fellow party members when joining a new group to discuss any specific party restrictions that need to be addressed (i.e. any loot priorities, allowing group members to watch cutscenes etc)."
