You seem to keep skipping over the parts where people keep saying there wont be anyone there to help you. These are 8 man content. You won't find 7 nice people to get you through the story dungeons in 1 day. Before trial roulette was introduced, it took people days to get through cape westwind. Even when I tried to help someone with it and queued with him as a tank, it took forever. When I was still collecting relics, chimera and hydra was the hardest part (aside from titan hm). It can take me 3-5 days camping and shouting for a group to get these fights done and I consider that lucky.

It used to be that CM and Prae gave 100 philo every time without a roulette AND PF and people would spam it for hours a day to get darklight pieces so they can start coil. Now it gives 100 myth once a day. 80 of it comes from the roulette bonus. Now people who wants myth tomes can only do it once a day for mediocre myth/hour. Myth is still just as relevant today as philo was due to atmas and gear but now there are less people going into these dungeons, but still enough to let new players be able to finish it.

I don't go to this roulette anymore because I'm done with myth farming but even then I never say anything to or for the new players. If party wants to wait, I'll wait with them, if they don't, I'll follow them. Now there's 1 less player to FILL UP the slots needed (not help out) to do these dungeons. You want SE to do something, go ask them to remove the experienced players from the roulette pool by removing the need of tomes/removing the rewards/turn the dungeons into one player so you can go solo it yourself.

If you read my earlier posts you'd know that, yes, I have friends that quit the game prior to duty roulette, because they felt XIV was repeating the mistakes of XI, and that they'd have to wait around endlessly to catch up and hit endgame. They are only returning now, because I've been able to assure them that this is no longer the case.

I said again on forums this is a game design flaw created by the devs. Makes both kind of players angry. People who are 1st time and people who are in roulette doing the same dungeon for their 999th time. This design creates drama in both sides of players. They need to remove those cutscenes out of the dungeon and change this. I think we had enough with this drama. Both kind of player are right about being angry. SE might wanna take a look on this and make some changes. Never again put cutscenes in the middle of a dungeon run Expansion is coming with loads of new dungeons and I hope we won't see this mistake again.

Yeah, it is a design fault, for sure. I'll just leave it at that before I get more upset over the fact that the difference of 10 minutes would make people stop helping other people... /sigh.

It's OK, you know, I get bad days too where I am upset at all the slow people and curse like a sailor but in general I just prefer friends over efficiency.

Enjoy the roulette as much as you can everybody and Square Enix, please never again make a dungeon like Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium.

Just remove the Dungeon Finder completely and do everything with the Party Finder. Oh good old times.

I actually do content almost exclusively through the Duty Finder. ^_^ I think.. Titan EX was the only fight I could not beat there. I love the ability to do something else while the game builds me a party. Even the dreaded DPS wait time doesn't sadden me, haha. ^_^

Which would mean people who want to watch will have to wait for hours to do the dungeons.

    See the flaw there champ?

    Okay, here's the thing:

The Duty Finder and the Party Finder are two very different things. The Duty Finder pairs you with a bunch of random people, while the Party Finder lets you decide every rule of the content you wish to do.

Hence, when you enter a Duty Finder party, you should always expect the lowest possible quality of a party, and you should also expect it to be completed as it was designed.

    Basically:

    - Do not expect that there is no new people.
    - Do not expect that people know what they are doing.
    - Do not expect that people will skip cutscenes.
    - Do not expect that people are geared well enough for your preferences.
    - Do not expect a "perfect" party setup.
    - Do not expect that it will be a speedrun.

I automatically see it this way, but other people seem to think totally the opposite, where the person wanting to enjoy the content as intended has to make the Party Finder group, which just doesn't make sense to me. Of course, you can't get the roulette bonus from making a Party Finder party, but.. yeah.

Giving control of content solely to the community is a terrible idea.

    You missed

    - Do not expect that people will wait for you
    - Do not expect that people are here for the same reasons you are

With the duty finder is basically don't expect anything. It automatically parties you with other random players where each one of them has different reasons for being there. There was no agreement taking place before joining.

The duty finder doesn't give you the filtering tools party finder does. On PF you can specify that cutscenes must not be skipped. Duty finder as in everything else is your last resort.
