The devs designed the game with a feature to specifically prevent any formerly seen cutscene from EVER being played again if enabled. So yes, these players are absolutely idle, as they have seen it.
Which, as I have said before, is not an issue, so long as these same players can move ahead in the dungeon without being harassed about doing so by the... newbies.
Well, that feature you mentioned was implemented extremely recently.. like..a month ago, or something? So the game wasn't really "designed" that way. They just added it later, and you can clearly see why. The majority rules..but..the majority is not always right. The devs designed the game with a feature to specifically prevent any formerly seen cutscene from EVER being played again if enabled. So yes, these players are absolutely idle, as they have seen it.
Which, as I have said before, is not an issue, so long as these same players can move ahead in the dungeon without being harassed about doing so by the... newbies.
Repeat argument:
Want stuff fast? Go do dungeon that goes faster.
Want to be nice and help newbies while getting carrots? Join roulette, and actually BE nice.
No, I don't want a barrier. I want people to actually go and get their carrot. While being nice. But who am I kidding, I don't even meet nice people out in the real world.![]()

No, you want people to give up extra time for nothing, when they're already committing time to something they don't necessarily want to do (and only agreeing to because they're being bribed into it by the game design, for the benefit of people that came to the game later than everyone else.) Common decency and being generally nice dictates you're going to do that from time to time, but on a daily basis, to the tune of perhaps a whole day's playtime lost?
That's called consumer entitlement. And it's not appropriate here. SE provided a way by which you can find groups and ensure you won't have to skip cutscenes. Use that instead.
Welp, as an FC when someone gets upto CM and Prat for the first time we run them through as an FC and leave them to experience it fully. cutscenes and wait for them to finish before starting fights.
Especting 7 strangers to do the same is entitlement.
But, theres 2 options. Either wait potentially days to be able to complete them or run them twice. Once to view the cutscenes as the rest clear and again to skip the cutscenes you watched first time and experience the fights. I know which one I would chose.
Or be proactive and join or create either a FC or LS that is willing to run new players through said content. Instead of expecting every stranger to cater exactly to one persons needs![]()

You seem to keep skipping over the parts where people keep saying there wont be anyone there to help you. These are 8 man content. You won't find 7 nice people to get you through the story dungeons in 1 day. Before trial roulette was introduced, it took people days to get through cape westwind. Even when I tried to help someone with it and queued with him as a tank, it took forever. When I was still collecting relics, chimera and hydra was the hardest part (aside from titan hm). It can take me 3-5 days camping and shouting for a group to get these fights done and I consider that lucky.
It used to be that CM and Prae gave 100 philo every time without a roulette AND PF and people would spam it for hours a day to get darklight pieces so they can start coil. Now it gives 100 myth once a day. 80 of it comes from the roulette bonus. Now people who wants myth tomes can only do it once a day for mediocre myth/hour. Myth is still just as relevant today as philo was due to atmas and gear but now there are less people going into these dungeons, but still enough to let new players be able to finish it.
I don't go to this roulette anymore because I'm done with myth farming but even then I never say anything to or for the new players. If party wants to wait, I'll wait with them, if they don't, I'll follow them. Now there's 1 less player to FILL UP the slots needed (not help out) to do these dungeons. You want SE to do something, go ask them to remove the experienced players from the roulette pool by removing the need of tomes/removing the rewards/turn the dungeons into one player so you can go solo it yourself.

Yeah, it is a design fault, for sure. I'll just leave it at that before I get more upset over the fact that the difference of 10 minutes would make people stop helping other people... /sigh.
It's OK, you know, I get bad days too where I am upset at all the slow people and curse like a sailor but in general I just prefer friends over efficiency.
Enjoy the roulette as much as you can everybody and Square Enix, please never again make a dungeon like Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium.
Just remove the Dungeon Finder completely and do everything with the Party Finder. Oh good old times.
