Happened again last night. Jumped into one fate as BRD in Central Shroud. Got second Atma of the Maiden. Only did it because I was previously trying to get XP for my GLA and couldn't even get a couple of punches before everyone had it cleared because of all the Atma farmers. Switched to BRD to get past the several Anoles without getting creamed by the minions (I like to call them A-holes) in front of the boss. No one was there, but before I could change characters, here comes the calvary. Stayed at BRD, and with the number of people, it was the typical 10 second cacophony of huh, uh, yaw, grr... and I got the drop. I don't know if I got three arrows off. Atma of the Maiden. Dang, I already had one.

Is there a rumor that if you kill more at the fate that you get more points? I see folks bitching about farming these things, but when the person who isn't even high enough level to have armor is there killing lady bugs for XP, can't folks give these guys a chance to get a couple of hits? They're trying to get XP just like you're trying to get an Atma.

There are lots of reports of atma one shots, I've only just started, I have two, the first was about 8 fates, the second was the first fate I did in the zone.

It may just be RNG, but RNG is not always particularly random, and there are ways of messing that code up such that it forms very predictable patterns or odd behavior. With as many reports of one shots as there are I'm willing to believe theres something to it.

But anyway, I don't plan on taking it very seriously, I'll just do it as I wait for queues (and being a WHM, that's not much so far)

Is there any reliable info on how to improve your odds at getting atmas? I've been at this forever, I have literally lost count of how many Fates I've done, and I have absolutely nothing to show for it. This is a travesty.

RNG is RNG. Trust me, if there was a magic method that boosted the odds by even 0.001%, people would be all over it by now. The internet is never slow for news.

Exactly if rng was not random then why have i been doing fates for the past 3 months and still don't have all of them?
The Producer had confirmed a while back that it is just random luck, no theories like times, etc. has any bearing over getting atma
I do agree this was bad design for also the reasons of low level players trying to do fates

I got 2 atmas with one shot, just going straight for the next map after a drop.

Hi! I know they said that the RNG is luck, but I'm beginning to think that there is a secret stat LUCK and the rng somehow goes off of that. I did my first Atma grind with not having to farm more than 4 hours for one atma. I got most of them in 30 minutes. I didn't go off the JST or anything. I just did one continent after the other. It sucked but wasn't that bad. So I started Atma grinding again for my WHM. Again, not so bad. The only one I had problem with was Upper La Noscea, five hours of grinding no drop. I logged off and the next day I went in to farm again for it and it dropped 20 minutes after the hour. At this point someone had told me about the JST theory. So I wanted to try it out. I ended up getting an atma drop 9 times out 10. I even got 2 Lion atma within 7 minutes of eachother. I thought this was pretty great. Needless to say my WHM has like 19 atma on her right now.

I thought I'd be a nice wife and help out the hubby. I had him log in and started running around on his character to farm some atma. In five hours only 1 atma dropped. I had 4 on my character by this time. His character also tends to get the worst rolls where I end up with a lot of rolls 70+. Anyway, this is why I think there might be a hidden stat based on luck. I know in ffxi the gear had hidden stats, but I'm thinking in ffxiv the characters might have hidden stats. This is just me guessing. I think it might be based off your nameday or deity that you choose in the beginning or there's a secret pair of dice rolled at the character creation screen that you don't see and that's your number. I just tend to have a lot of luck with drops, and noticed doing the exact same thing on my husband's character as I do on mine the results are completely different. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has heard of any such theories? And do you notice that your luck is better/worse than an FC mate?

Once again, there's no magic bullet to Atma RNG, otherwise everyone would have done it and the whining would have stopped.
