Atma Theorycraft

I'm working with some friends, running tests on Atma's to find a pattern. Well I'm on 9 Atma's now, after around 4 hours of trying, which seems pretty quick compared to most people.

This is what I found, it's not quite a guide, but it's things we've tested and found to be pretty consistent;

• The Atma's are (obviously) signs of the Zodiac, but the game doesn't put them in order. List them in order of the Zodiac, and start with the first one down your list that you don't already have.
• They seem to drop in the first 10 fates,or after 40-50 - anything inbetween seems a waste of time. I've been doing 10 fates, if it doesn't drop, go do a dungeon then come back and do another 10 - rinse and repeat.
• As soon as one drops, go to the next one in the list and don't do anything in between - just get straight to the next area and start doing fates. I did 3 Atma's in the space of 5 fates using this method, as did a friend, so it seems reliable.

Note: I've found that Atma's are more likely to drop within the first 30 minutes-ish of logging in (supporting my theory of first 10 fates). I'm even testing logging out/in again but I've not tested that to any extent yet so couldn't confirm either way. I've also found the specific time of day to have no relevance at all, as some people have theorized.

I'd like to know what others have found and to see if people can test the above and see what they find. I'm 100% confident there is a method, even if it just increases the RNG.

You'll hate me then. I was leveling up a GLA so I would work on a WAR with MAR. I had to "investigate" some spot on the other side of a pool that was filled with ferrel dogs and wild dodo's, all of whom were at or above my level and part of a fate. With plenty of time and a little patience, I switched my character to BRD, who happens to have her Zenith weapon available. After level synch-ing, I dispatch the entire fate in no time, and my patience paid off... Atma of the Fish drops. I then switched character, investigated and teleported out safely. One fate, one drop. It's just luck of the draw.

Its just lazy "content" design to retain subscriptions. Unfortunately, they've lost mine. I loved this game intensely for a year. No more.

Still believing in these theories? You know that the Producer said it is just random? No mystery, no scheme, no riddle. Just glorious randomness. What you found out are no findings. Just your personal stories how you got them. And it seems you were quite lucky and therefore believe in your theories. Not trying to step on your toes or trying to discourage you. It is just beyond me how one can still try to get behind something that was demasked from the Producer as pure random.

Yep, quoted from Yoshi-P, it's just luck. Finding a pattern here is about as effective as blowing on dice before you roll them or picking your birthday for the next lottery numbers.

Ah I didn't know that Yoshi had confirmed it was random (I've only been playing ~2 months). In that case, I'll take my tin-foil hat off

I've given up looking for atma after a fate grind I was in had a member get 3 crystals back to back. We did about 20 and from 17-20 they claimed they got the crystal. I think the random drop is broken due to the number of people looking for atma. I've attempted soloing and got nothing even after 10 fates. Being in a solo fate should in theory give you a crystal.
