Is there anyway to tab target like in WoW?

Is there a macro or something to make it like targeting in WoW?
By tab targeting like WOW I mean:
1)If no target, target nearest enemy
2)If target, target nearest enemy that isn't already being targeted
    3) Target stuff I'm actually facing
4)Only target stuff i'm in range of

I know you can keybind TARGET NEAREST ENEMY or CYCLE THROUGH TARGETS (NEAREST->FARTHEST).

These suck for me however. When I target nearest enemy it will only target nearest enemy. When I hit it again it stays on that target. When I try to use the cycle through targets function, it will cycle through a million different targets from around the world that Im not even facing or in range of before it finally comes back to the original.

Also I am probably going to be a scholar. Can healers solo in this game?

This game has the absolute WORST targeting system I have EVER seen. And I've played some pretty bad MMOs before. For some reason it works based off what is in your camera's view. So you can be past an enemy, facing the one you want to target, but if you press Tab, it'll target the one BEHIND you, simple because it's closest, or something. Similarly, it'll cycle through random non-hostile enemies (or at least enemies not being attacked) waaaaaay off in the distance, as long as you can see them.

Honestly, the only way around it I've found kinda, is to face your camera completely towards the ground so you only see the enemies around you. It's not ideal, and definitely doesn't always work because the enemies may run out of that field of view, but it's the best I can come up with.

Yeah, that's how the PS3 controller's target cycling works here, too. Really annoying. In most situations, peaches' suggestion about limiting the camera's viewing range is as near as I've seen to a solution.

The only time it's easier is when DPSing while following a tank who actually marks the mobs. At least on PS3/4 it's possible to set up to 4 targeting filters. (On PS3/PS4, it's done with L1 + one of the X,O,triangle, circle buttons. I assume there's a PC equivalent, but I'm not sure what it is.) I have one general purpose filter set up so target cycling will include everything, one set to just target players (for healing), one set to target enemies, and one set to specifically target just those ones that have been marked with signs. If the mobs I should be fighting are marked, I can just switch to that "sign-marked" filter and target them easily without having to cycle through everything else in view.

They can as well as anyone can. When the story reaches a group dungeon, you'll need a group, so no class can solo the whole game. But when you are doing solo content, scholars are pretty good at it. (When soloing, they basically just DPS like an arcanist, while letting their fairy pet take care of keeping them healed. At least that's how I handle it. I haven't reached endgame, but did get to level 45 as a scholar.)

I'd agree with Niwashi, if you want to solo stuff Scholar is your best bet. There's a lot of content that's easier as a Scholar with your fairy healing you than it is as a Summoner with a tanking pet. Usually enemies deal less damage than Eos can heal, and if not you can always Adlo and Stoneskin yourself for 1300+ damage prevention total before you dps

I kind of miss the targeting system from XI sometimes. It was useful for me anytime I just wanted to run up and target/select an npc or pop a quest fight or something with no delay, just cycle through what was on my screen until I found what I wanted.

Hmmm for me targeting works by cycling what's on my screen. I can never target stuff off screen with the r2+l1 cycling on controller.
