Do you honestly need a dps meter to tell you which dps is underperforming? >_> Maybe we need a tard meter instead to prevent these kinds of threads from forming so often.

So you can tell when someone has been dead for a full minute and is still outDPSing any other person, with equivalent gear? By what, intuition? ESP?
As a matter of fact, it's both intuition and ESP. Also, a little bit of experience in knowing how the flow of the battle goes. If it's a bit slower than usual, chances are you have a subpar dps in your party. So then what do you do? If it's horrible enough that you just refuse to continue, you start the process of elimination.
All joking aside, my point is that if a certain DPS is so awful that it's causing you guys to lose, then trust me that between the 6 members remaining, you'll figure it out. If you want a DPS meter in place just cuz you're taking an extra couple of minute on a fight, then get off your high horse, it's a fking game, not a job.
This sort of statement always makes me laugh. Just because its a hobby that doesnt justify someone underperforming when everybody wants to reach a certain goal. What do you think happens if you play on a football team and decide to constantly hand the ball over to the opponents? That people wont be pissed? Or that you wont be swapped out because its just a hobby?
Stop being so god damn naive. The internet isnt some sort of undergroud feature anymore. Its part of everyones life and gaming itself becomes more popular every year, automaticall turning games into class systems that resemble real life. You suck, you get punished. And thats how it should be. If you can not deal with that you should maybe look into collecting stamps or grow a spine. Because apparently youre so scared of some random person on the internet calling you names that you cant even think straight anymore.

Umm... people who "play" football, you know like playing around which I do with my family/friends often, no they don't.This sort of statement always makes me laugh. Non pro goal leagues - usually not.
Semi-Pro - maybe
Pro? yeah! That's not a hobby it's a VERY high paying job! Hence why semi pro leagues take it so serious they WANT that job!
I personally don't know anyone that's planning on making a career out of FFXIV unless they want to work there, in that case no DPS meter required.

This is nonsense like others statements. It's not making it a job that means you need a parser. It's wanting to improve, to test yourself. I know plenity of ppl that play to master the game and they NEED a parser to get beyond a certain point that, it's clear you don't care of. You are ok with not go beyond that point. Fine by me but this don't mean that every other player want to sit where you want to sit. I want to do research. I want to test different pieces of gears. And i can't do it with pen and paper. I can't know how i performed in that run of T6-8. I can't know if it was effective to change the way i use aetherite manipulation. I can't know how much RNG is good for me and how much i critted with 500 crit oposed to 450 crit. And I WANT to know. If i'm unlucky i may prefear to go DET but i don't know.Umm... people who "play" football, you know like playing around which I do with my family/friends often, no they don't.

So higly and mighty elitist how do you know all that? You stop your party to open up the log and copy all those info in excel? I'd like to see that
We got it. You don't care of min-maxing. I can respect that. It's not needed to get the wins. You can get good enough for win easily without a parser but you get there and not past that point. You can't try out crit. You can't try out equipment. You can't try out spellspeed. You can't min-max. You are ok witj not doing so? I alredy said that THAT i respect. But you must respect the other players that like to play a way differently from that. You can't brag to be able to to everything without the parser cuz it's not. You are not min-maxing. And you can't call "wrong" the way other players like to play. If players want to min-max they NEED a parser. And it's not min-maxing that make them elitists. It's claiming to be better then others and impose your way to play that makes you an elitists

Actually if it were for only this purpose I'd have NO problems with parsers AT ALL.
If parsers measured YOUR DPS, what YOU do, and were NOT used to kick people from parties, tell others if they are good enough, and to determine what becomes server standards of needed DPS to be any good I'd care less. Heck, if they were built into the game and used only for that purpose, I'd use it too.
Though it's not... in fact I've never even seen a parser in any game (not saying they don't exist) that only measures YOUR dps.
The reality is they are not generally used for self improvement alone, they are not generally used to teach anyone else, they are used to justify one simple saying...
"You are the weakest link, goodbye!"

With the limited end game gear choices and lack of material slots on dungeon drops this is meaningless past i90.
You look at an i110 piece of gear and compare it to any i90 and tell me if you really need help choosing.
How many i110 armor sets are there again?
The only use I could see for a parser beyond i90 is skill rotations in which the highest DPS rotations are often quite clear.
Parsers don't measure stuff like interrupts & silences, raising other players, songs to restore healers mp or tanks TP, proper use/timing on sleep, bio, eye for eye, agro reduction, or many of the other things that are just as important if not more than dps.
The only thing these types of skills do is lower DPS and if you can tell who is doing stuff like this you're smart enough to know a parsers limitations and that they are not needed nor an accurate depiction of a players skill.
@Nyyy Is that the only thing you read from my post? I said that if you're really underperforming, ok, I get it.... It can be frustrating. However if it's just a tiny bit to where there's no significant change except maybe a few extra minutes by the time you're done, then kicking someone or even complaining about it is a tad elitist.
Also, comparing an online game to football? Really?
I've played football quite a bit with friends as a hobby and guess what? I suck at it. No one ever bitches when I'm on their team, and no one has ever kicked me. Because there is nothing at stake, we have a good time and have good laughs.
Now as a job, when you're getting PAID to play well, then I'm guessing you can and will be kicked off a team if you just start sucking horribly.
Online games aren't just a hobby, they're a hobby you pay for. No one should be getting mistreated online and or excluded from content just because you're an elitist.
You know what you CAN do though? You can gtfo.
Most of us won't complain against a bad player in Brayflox or WP. But most of us won'twipe during 3 hours just because a tard DPS is stuck at 50% of the rest of the group and the DPS checks are not met. That's not being elitist to ask you to do the minimal DPS required to kill the boss. If you think we are elitist to not wanting to lose 3 hours just because someone is bad, then we are and we don't care.@Nyyy Is that the only thing you read from my post? And your example is the most stupid example ever. You play football with FRIENDS ? WE ARE NOT YOUR FUCKING FRIENDS ! Join a team of random strangers, suck and see if they don't complain when you are in their team.
