Personal DPS meter so players can optimize their rotations and stuff: Good.
Public DPS meter where other players can pick apart players performance: Bad.

so long as strict dps checks exist in the game, people will always yell at others to increase their dps, parser or no parser, regardless of whos fault it truly is for failing a dps check.
actually having a parser available on the other hand lets those who are lacking in dps know they are lacking and not just think its the group making excuses.

also, personal parsers wont do a thing to help with harassment, people will just demand to know everyones personal dps on a particular encounter before joining a party, if you fail to comply, you wont be allowed in the group.

That's easily fixed by introducing policies which is one of the 1st steps SE will do if they ever introduce a parser, you really think that SE wants more harassment reports?

Clear evidence that you didn't read the whole thread, people already afraid of even write the word parser in the game, same thing could be applied to anyone requesting other players numbers, if you think this only involves a dev decision well I recommend you to go read a management book, it was a suggestion.

By the way the day I have to justify to randoms on the internet on what I do for a living, that day I'll review my life ^ ^, instead of creating arguments that attack my person try to do a bit of research.

Yeah, because all this discussion boils down to a simple idea.... I can't blame you thought I wish it were that simple.

I can conclude your request in the most dramatic answer possible:

    No.

Louisoix died so we could play Final Fantasy 2.0

Let that sink in for a minute.

The difference is that you don't just need to know that something is bad, but also the reasons (which could be given in alternative to 'my parser says so'), which are far more useful to the person doing poorly.
Honestly, without a detailed parser, it's hard to even know what someone is doing. Also, it's quite possible that folks don't know how to play whatever job Person X is playing very poorly. What kind of response people give has nothing to do with whether or not an in-game parser is available; it has to do with how nice they are or not.

If a DRG in my PT was doing poorly, I really wouldn't be able to say much besides "Your dps seems a bit low. You might want to google DRG rotations to see if there's one more effective than what you're currently doing."

It would be nice if everyone was super cool and wanted to do their best to help people get better or whatever, but a couple things:

    1) If an in-game parser was always available, everyone would already be able to know well in advance of endgame how they are doing, and how they compare to other people. They should probably ask someone for advice if they think they are doing subpar. I think it's academically fascinating how many people have iLVL 90 or higher gear and do dps like they were iLVL 45.
    2) It's honestly not everyone's job to teach everyone else how to be better. Sometimes you are just going to want to get something done. When you're in a Leviathan EX farm PT you set up in PF, you probably don't want to help that unskilled BLM struggle burger through the fight. You'd rather ask him to leave because he's doing less dps than the tank somehow.

Will the dps meter really change the battle? No! The person playing the role has to change their play style. The dps meters will only cause people to NOT want to run certain content.

When you're in Party Finder and wonder why your dps spots can't fill, it's because the dps may be running only with certain people.

So, again... The meter will not change the battle.

So much stress is put on the DPS roles. Too much competition amongst each other when someone runs a dps-check program. It becomes a thing where a dps will get hit instead of moving simply because he want to stay at the top of the chart. As a BRD, I care less. This is why I run BRD with FC/LS/Friends. I'll tank or heal in pugs.

If you're getting hit by easily avoidable aoe, I don't care what your dps is, I don't want you in my party.

Yes they will and they do. I can try different cooldowns timing or different ways to do things and see wich one is more efficient. Now i can try but i don't know if my idea wa a good one or a bad one. Know my dps each run WILL improve my runs
