DPS meters and why they're necessary

My group is mostly ps3 and ps4 players, only one of us uses a pc. He got a parser to help with the boss' hp to know when phases change. We have never kicked a pug for lack of dps. I can see how it can and would be used that way. I am competitive though and would like to know how I'm doing compared to others. They will never be officially supported because of the sheer ability they have to show low dps as that could lead to a person being kicked. Parsers don't take into account gear or movement needed that would affect melee and casters.

they actually do, parsers give a massive detail of information, youre gonna have to get a chance to take a look at one.

They should just add private parsers so you can improve if you need it and call it a day. If you join a group with a sub par dps and refuse to muscle through it, just leave and retry with another group. I do it all the time cuz I dont think its fair to punish people due to my lack of patience.

No idea what country youre from but if you seriously believe that people need to get paid to show this form of dedication youre completely delusional. Where I am from almost every single boy does it until he hits the age of 18. Some dedicate 6 days a week to training, with a match on the weekend for literally no reward apart from having fun and improving as players.

But I guess youre simply not capable of understanding what term passion actually stands for or simply too lazy to properly commit to something.

What about personal DPS meters? Im on ps3, dont have a parser but would love to have something on my screen showing my own personal DPS output. Now that Im learning some other jobs it would be nice to know what Im hitting for to see if Im figuring out the mechanics of these jobs right. Since it would only be on my screen theres no harassment or ppl getting vote kicked because of it. Plus I would know whether Im low and need to take a closer look at my rotations. Maybe even ask ppl in the raid for advice or pointers. There could even be job averages so you have an idea where you can/should be DPS wise. Better yet, put the all time highs for that raid on the meter and we could all compete for a top title or something. Bad DPS could learn to improve & good DPS could keep trying to raise the bar. All the while its own your own screen & no one can judge or see it except you.

With that i can agree 100%. What i dont like is the fell that most people want a parser to evaluate other people and if they don't meet theirs standars they will start kicking other people out or leaving the instance.

Those few that will use it that way 1) will be reported and hopefully punished 2) they are alredy doing it

I wouldn't mind having dps meters ingame. Just like in WoW, it would help me show people how bad they are at their class.

I think [GM] Dave does several articles about why Third Party Software will never see the light of day on a Final Fantasy MMORPG. This includes Parsers I do believe.
