For all the players who have Windows Vista and cannot play Fullscreen

After countless months of tickets from both Nvidia and SE, I have finally determined the culprit behind this issue....Microsoft. I have played a large assortment of games from Planetside 2, FF14, and WoW with the similar issue coming up, there is a graphics glitch that is encoded into Windows Vista that Microsoft never corrected in regards to the mouse hardware acceleration in both 32 and 64 bit systems. With both SE and Nvidia knowing about this problem, there is not one thing they can do to fix this issue since it a OS problem that colludes with the programming with Windows Vista. The only option you have to fix this issue which alot of people are going to hate is you must purchase a new OS. This option seems pointless for only one game but you have to remember that this issue also affects not only FF14, but other games as well. So my best advice for this is purchase Windows 7 or newer like I have and never have to worry about not playing FF14 on Fullscreen again.

Just curious, but has any Vista user tried to use the virtual WinXP as a workaround?

I am not currently on Windows Vista, I am posting this as you would have read that I purchased a new OS and I am giving players with this issue news on what options they have to correct this since it is not only on FF14, but with other games as well.....

I have personally tried this option Dude007 about 2 months and it did not work. It has to do with the hardware collisions of the mouse acceleration that is bugged that Microsoft did not fix before they went to Windows 7. The only option players have is to upgrade to Windows 7 or newer since this issue also affect other games as well.

my question is how many people actually have hardware capable of running this game with systems built during the days of vista. I find it hard to
believe somebody would use vista on newer hardware.

Haibel, remember that people are still using Windows XP including business and personal computers to this day. Microsoft did not stop selling Vista until 2010 which if you had a high tech system then it would still hold up to par today.

I doubt too many businesses are still running XP. There's certain risks inherent with running your business computers with software that the developer no longer supports. If your systems bug out you're SOL. My company made it a priority to switch to 7 (and upgrade hardware at the same time) as soon as support for XP was dropped. We only have XP left on a few machine HMIs. Even home users should really upgrade even if they have to get a bare minimum computer to fit their budget. Vista however is perfectly acceptable. In fact Windows has not actually had a major version update since Vista. Vista, 7, and 8 are all Windows 6.x iterations (8 is 6.2). Now on topic, what happens if you run in borderless windowed?

2007 called, it wants its complaints about Windows Vista back.

    Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

But seriously though, Windows Vista has been seen as complete garbage since the day it was released. It has bugs like crazy, none of the service packs fix any of them. It was so unstable, in fact, that Microsoft took it, fixed all of its biggest problems, and re-released it as Windows 7, a completely different operating system. It's basically the beta version of Windows 7 with all of the bugs and crap included. I would advise not touching it with a 39 and a half foot pole if it can be avoided. If you like how Vista looks, but want a faster, less buggy version of it, yeah, pick up Windows 7 and download the service pack.

take it for what it's worth, but I'm a manager at Walmart and all of our registers are windows xp and or work stations are win server 2000 :P I'm not saying that's good but that you shouldn't assume no one uses old os,s. It's also kinda funny in a sad way cuz it registers are always crashing lol

Are the registers actual PCs or is it likely that they use Windows XP embedded? That's the one reason we still have it on the HMI screens for some of our equipment. Can't upgrade the OS on a unit that has the OS hardcoded into it lol The workstations should be upgraded for the sole reason of up to date security features
