It's a free market, players can list at whatever price they choose to. Even if you think something is worth, for example, 1 million gil. Others are free to come along and sell for 100 gil if they so desire.

Didn't it also take literally years for the market to recover from some of the nonsense that happened in XI? Like undercutting is not an issue. They could always just change the market board to the way FFXI's auction house was. You could only see the last price someone paid for the item rather than what people are actually selling it for. Never really saw undercutting in it or at least the undercutting wasn't nearly as aggressive as it is in this.
Not like gil is even really usable for much anyways.
There was a X-Mas sale of Gil. And it caused a inflation, so prices went up. Had highest effect on those that had a lot of Gil on their chars already. I actually made a crap load of Gil during that time since the items I farmed was suddenly worth a lot more.
EDIT: Forgot to add that the inflation had nothing to do with how the Auction House worked in FFXI.
It's usable for housing which will be required for chocobo raising and airship building for at least 3-6+ months after they're implemented. Then there's people buying up materia for novus upgrades. May not be usable for much but the things that really do need it take alot of it.
The lack of a working search function bothers me as well. The rest of the stuff - people are just stupid. Everyone wants to sell something and so they undercut. I undercut too - but if materials are selling for 1gil I don't even bother putting them up. XIV's economy has been broken from day 1 and it never recovered from the horrible systems that were in place in the early days. It's gotten better, but it's still nowhere near what other modern mmos have.
I do undercut at times for around 40 % when I believe the price shown is totally stupid. My choice, my gain or loss. You hold the choice to undercut in turn or leave it. Is a free market welcome to realities...
The important is that when you put a price, you put it at a profit for you. Something that my servant has brought me which I havnt had to put up any work for it or material, is for me anyway free gil, even 1 gil is a profit. Something that I have had to work hard, I will check market price and place what I deem right within that range and leave it for some times eventually change it at afar later stage.....that is called market laws. The price also depends on the scarcity of the material.
What you want in essence is to get rid of *bots* that doesnt allow you to put up overpriced stuff so that you can monopolize the market at your whim, bots in essence keep you on your toes...you kind of selfish arent you ? Market has its own laws that depends on demand and offer in between lays your profit...up to you to calculate it and decide how far you can lower your prices to still be a winner.

The market isn't crashing. You're just not getting as much gil as you wanted.just an fyi, not everyone listing for one less gil is a bot. selling for less than what you get from vendoring is also not only bots. bots crashing the market isnt really happening. stupid people who undercut by more than 50% crash the market. everyone should know, you cant fix stupid.
"You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
This is one category in which XI was clearly superior.
Rather than having folks staring at the AH all day long (although I do enjoy the wannabe-libertarian comments about laissez-faire in Eorzea) (>.> ) Dev Team should have imported XI's system.
List your items, pay the fee up front. Blind bid auction. Call it good.
People did not camp the AH to list and re-list as they do here. This would be doubly good considering that the spirit of the game, according to Dev Team, is supposed to be casual-friendly.
Ain't nothin' casual-friendly about having to hop back to the AH every fifteen minutes because some folks are sufficiently devoid of meaningful expenditures of time that they are capable (and willing) of listing and re-listing their items all day, every day.
This system is just nonsense.

Do get out, please, this pretentiousness is annoying.
Don't forget to check the price in the item-info. If the price in the MB is the same or lower than the price in the item-info, sell it to a NPC fo more gil.The important is that when you put a price, you put it at a profit for you.
