Insanely Priced Items for Purposes of Storage in Bazaar - Eliminate with Adjustment?

Issue: Characters with Bazaar icons indicate their Bazaar is active, yet their only wares consist of outrageously priced items.

It is clear these characters are just storing or organizing these items. The way FFXIV handles this misrepresents their activity, leading to many useless bazaar icons when that very player is actually not interested in selling anything. As an example, I could see five players with bazaar icons and only one of these five would be operating a genuine bazaar instead of a temporary storage bin.

I can understand how valuable those ten extra slots of storage can be to some players, which is why my feedback as to how to fix this scenario will include compensating for these lost slots.

    Feedback:
    1. Instead of removing the bazaar item from the primary inventory, color-code the item (randomly choosing a color for this example: light pink) and keep the item in the primary inventory - the color code will indicate this particular item/stack is in bazaar mode.

    2. Increasing to 109 or higher from 99 current inventory capacities, if warranted.

    3. A simultaneous addition of superior alternative(s). Mailboxes and Mog Houses, *hint*.

    4. For fans of Unsorted inventories, implement a "Move Item" functionality to enable manual reorganization should the player so desire.

Please note that the feedback's intention here is to abate the current practice of using Bazaar as a means of storage. Any negatives incurred can clearly be offset or remedied (as seen in feedback 3). Suggestions, feedback, and random comments are welcome.

I agree. Items at bazaar shouldn't be removed from inventory...this not only would fix the "cannot return the item" repair failure but also stop with storage bazaaring. I already gave in checking bazaars for item...only check if there's repair icon due this problem...its not like i want to pat 999,999,999 in a silver nugget +3 >_<

About inventory, i still stick with my original suggestion of splitting it into 2 80-slots inventories, being one for equipment only and one for items. i've been asking this since beta and might keep asking until they do this since it would lighten extremely the equipment burden from inventories.

There are a number of ways around this issue, including those already listed. Other ideas include collapsing tools and outfits into toolbox and wardrobe items to free up normal inventory space, but as we all know, players will still seek to exploit any exploitable mechanic. Give them an extra 20 invent slots? They'll take them and still make use of a bazaar dumping ground.

Hence why I really like Lienn's idea of preventing bazaar items from leaving your inventory. Give an extra ten inventory slots at the same time or implement some other inventory-saving feature to offset the "lost space" and the exploitation can be painlessly removed.

I started doing this because the amount of items you get is ridiculous. Both of my retainers filled up, then their bazaars, then my bazaar. Eventually I was forced to sell a lot of low level or worthless (economy wise) materials in order to keep enough space in my inventory for when I do my bi-daily levequests.

I generally run at 68/100, and this is with every class tool and weapon and only a single set of armor and crafting gear.

I remember FFXI being really bad about item management, but the class system wasn't as free flowing as FFXIV's, so it was bearable, albeit frustrating. FFXIV's is on a whole nother level.

Also, they said we'd be able to buy more retainers.. never happened. But then that bring sup another issue: Paying real money to only increase your item storage ingame. That's understandable with free to play games, but FFXIV is pay to play (well, not at the moment, but it will be when they've fixed it enough), so that's going too far.

Another very good reason people place things in their bazaar at very high prices is to prevent those items from getting accidentally vendored/dropped. I can't tell you how many times I have almost accidentally vendored an expensive item that was 2 rows down from the item I had selected to sell, only for some odd old bug to switch to the items two rows below my piece of moko grass (or whatever). Even without the bug, it is still pretty easy to vendor/drop an item just through user error.

I am all for better storage solutions, and things like mailboxes and event item storage locations would be great. However, there is still an issue when you are out fighting, far from any vendors, and your inventory keeps getting clogged up. There needs to be some way to prevent desired items from being available to drop, and currently the bazaar is the only way to do this.

I would love to see some feature added to mark items in your inventory as "locked" - meaning while the item(s) is/are locked, they can't be traded, dropped, vendored, or used until once again unlocked. Click the item you want to lock, select lock item from a menu, it greys out or changes color, whatever, remaining in your inventory but is safe from accidental disposal. To release the item, you would have to open a menu and manually unlock any items.
