Lol, no. It refers to the fact that the internet's been like this since the days of AOL and beyond. Possibly even earlier.

Meaning? You can't change things for the better? In order to change others in a (hopefully positive) way one must start with oneself.

If we could change it, we already would have. We've had over two decades to do so. We coulda done it before the internet became so widespread. But no, it won't ever happen. All we can do is accept the fact that there will be asshats and there will be cool people somewhere in the crowd of asshats.

Even in the most well-moderated forums, I've found there to be a significant amount of asshattery. Most forum mods don't ban for stupidity, sadly.
