It's called game immersion. SE likes to get you out and explore the world. Just add to the lore and granduer of the game. From the perspective of a new player trying this quest for the first time, it might actually be excited to go out into the unknown and adventure. Remember MMO's are about the journey and not destination. Was in the middle of my second Company quest for Limsa and lo and behold I am off to Coerthas. Why am I being forced to spend an hour of my time trying to get there for what will probably be a minor. These trips are common for all quest at relatively low levels. How difficult is it for SE to devise a more reasonable progression of travel. As it is now I will continuie to but these quests as well as all the others on hold until there is some form of alternate transportation. Hopefully this will be Chocobos in 1.19.

I feel your pain about the time sink, but in my case the space filled by frustration in yours was taken by excitement to see the new area, and a sense of adventure. Was in the middle of my second Company quest for Limsa and lo and behold I am off to Coerthas.
