You can't please 100% of people 100% of the time.
Personally, I'm not much of a raider. I'll just throw it out there that I've only run coil a handful of times, and largely just to appease my linkshell and FC members. That said, the times I've run it I've had no issue with the difficulty of the content. Oh be sure, I've failed plenty of times and gnashed my teeth at the screen trying to beat some of the later turns, but I've always thought of them as challenges to be overcome not given away.
What irritates me to no end these days is how everyone seems to want games that remove the challenge. Nintendo also seem to be doing just that with their latest offerings (Anyone who's seen the white tanooki suit knows what I mean). The problem this presents is that it also removes some of the FUN from a game. No one likes to hit a brick wall, but they LOVE to overcome strong obstacles. It's a great feeling to finally beat that Dynamis Lord, or that Pandemonium Warden, or that Kefka.
If you take away the challenge, you also rob players of the euphoria of accomplishment. After all, if anyone can do it it's not really much of an achievement, is it?
