how long does it really take to figure out what skills the boss is using? and how to deal with them?
i'm not expecting everyone to be all pro....but it's just memorizing simple patterns.

That's only a small part of the problem. The real question is, How long does it really take '8 people' to figure out what skills the boss is using 'and coordinate as a group'?
The rest of the problem is not taking the initiative to gather a static group, because going in with random players with random mindsets and random strategies each duty run will never end well. In fact, I'm gonna go the distance and say, if you don't want to form a static, you're not serious about beating end-game content.
I strongly agree that they need to cater to casual players more. They did mention of easing instant kill mechanics, but well, not fast enough! While it's okay to expect healthy 10 and 20 year olds to learn fight mechanics down to pixels and milliseconds. It's not so much when talking about older, very young or ill individuals who still want to enjoy the game. Seriously, if they can pull off catering to these people, they'll gain quite some fame.
Anyway, they should have an easy mode of all trial and raid dungeons. The reward should be just tomestones of mythology and soldiery. Furthermore, they should be released the same time as new releases to allow participation by everyone. If they really want to help the casual playerbase, just make the easy trials/ raids use the exact movepool and the exact rhythm as their regular counterparts but all the mechanics deal a fraction of the damage. This can serve as a practice encounter for those wanting to beat the regular versions. Otherwise, it's for the casual player to enjoy the scenery and story; instead of, you know, through a random group's clear on youtube.
Taking T5 for example:
Fireball - 16000 > 6000
Twisters - infinity > 3000
Caber toss - infinity > 3000 and select new target
Divebomb - 3000 + 25y knockback > 1500 + 6y knockback

As a casual I can honestly say they cater to that crowd more than enough. But anyway, an "LFR" style similar to WoW minus the loot wouldn't be a bad idea, if this is what you're getting at. On the other hand, people can always wait till they nerf it a bit more or just keep trying.
How can they cater to them anymore without just giving them the win? Every fight / turn can be beaten in 10 - 20 minutes, with experienced players.
The issue is that too many players just do not think that they need to learn or practice the fights. even in fights with different strategies, it takes 1 sentence to get in sync:
Example titan ex: OT take egi's to 3pm, all double plumes to 9pm, super bomb @ 6pm
t5: pet soak; healer & 2 pets on right, rest on left and run it to right when no conflag
or t5 4x4 with a,b,c on left, x,y,z on right ot to side with conflag
Anyone who has done those fights can look at that and get the general idea.
if you have pt leaders who do not cover the strat, or worse assume that everyone uses the same exact one, people who never practiced, and learned to keep focus on the top/bottom of their character or focus target bar then you will wipe.
Each mechanic does need to be learned, and they are designed specifically so that you cannot just wing it.
I wrote a post (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-status-filter) which I believe would limit the number of fail parties if implemented.
Hopefully with the "Brutal" versions of Coil coming soon, there will be a bit more leniency when designing the difficulty-easing fixes in earlier turns. I know that I have difficulty with T5 to the point that I'm not even going to bother doing any of the hardcore endgame content like EX Primals and Coil anymore, at least until I cap all of my Crafting/Gathering jobs.
Heck, I'm not even doing Roulettes anymore. My dailies now consist of Supply/Provisions and Tribals, while doing a little bit of Atma grinding on the side. Got five thus far, and I even wrote up a checklist so I know which ones I have left to get and where to get them.
It's difficult content made for experienced groups and I'm mostly a solo player. Tried forming a linkshell to learn runs, but it just ended up slowly dying out. After trying for months to beat the EX Primals one time and get my Dual Haken, I am just so burned out that I can't even think about trying Coil or any other hardcore content for a while.
