It would be awesome if there was some Aetherial Rift that we could journey into to go through the 1.0 story up to the fall of the White Raven. I do apologize if this has been mentioned already.

You would finish the 1.0 storyline in 30 mins.
We had... what? 15 main scenario quests?
Not to mention that most of the original (launch version) main scenario felt so inconsequential and lacked any real sense of progression. You grind for 4-5 levels to get another main scenario quest, and what do you do? Fight three monsters? Click on a few objects on the ground? Play parley? The final main scenario mission had you undertake a mission that ended in utter failure, and that was it.
The only part of the original main scenario that really made an impression on me was the Ifrit part, and that's been totally replicated in the 2.0 storyline.
Maybe its just me but I still feel like 1.0 graphics (at least the armor) still had better textures. A lot of the gear in ARR looks flat to me.
You bet it did. So much so that it needed about a GTX460 to run good. A potted plant in 1.0 took up the same amount of memory characters do now in 2.0. The game was beautiful with inertia which really added to the immersion. Servers ended up not being able to handle it when large amounts of players we're on or close together.
I think that had more to do with lack of optimization than anything else. My PC is pretty beefy and I still had some issues with 1.0 back then when I really shouldn't have. I still think ARR looks really good though. It's just the armor looks flat to me. It doesn't....pop? I guess that would be the word to use.You bet it did. And all this only for a pot (PC here mean Player Character) ^^
Remember the chistmas tree that have melded some players graphic cards?
Just watch a video on youtube. I would rather see new content than play 1.0 stuff.
I'd love this. I love this game for the most part, but hate feeling I came in in the middle of it. I want to experience the whole story, not just the later half.
(And if there's really so few main scenario quests involved as Ashgarth says, that just makes bringing them in that much easier.)
They did this in XI (to some extent) with the whole Wings of the Goddess expansion and I bet 50% of the population never even finished it there.
Plus the 1.0 main storyline was terrible. The white raven was NOT part of it. It was in the Grand company quests in 1.0. The final main quest was vs the Magitek cannon and troopers.
