Why doesn't anyone play on the weekends?

hmm, I dunno.

During the week I have little time to play so I do all the small stuff like beast tribe questing and other side quests. The weekend, however I do all the dungeons and heavy duty stuff because they take longer and I have more time to play.

After all this time I'm still trying to figure out my server tho, its NA but not really sure what time zone its more geared to.

I am more of a weekday player myself, but I do go on late Saturday night once in awhile if I am not completely passed out by that point.

I know in my early 20s, the weekend was when I always worked, and generally longer shifts. So basically my days to play games for a long period were through out the week. Now I play whenever. cuz I have no control over my life.

Family, friends, gfs, any housework/chores that need to be done, etc... weekend is when most ppl has the free time to do all that.

Ok from time to time I get those odds weekends with heavy rain/snow, family out of town, gf with exams and I can sit and play until my eyes ache....but those kind are becoming extremely rare for me...

Aside from all the (very true) points made above about RL stuff, in regard specifically to in-game reasons....

1) By the weekend most people are capped out / locked out of dungeons, as a lot of the softcore elitists have already zerged their way through the game by the weekend.

So capping early in the week makes you a elitist? What kind of logic is that?

I've wondered this too. Anytime I try and get something done in game on the weekend, its like pulling teeth. This is on a highly populated legacy server.

I think for me it's a matter of week days being more regularly scheduled, and the weekend having more freedom and uncertainty. When scheduling raids with my group, we tend to do week nights and Sunday nights because that's when our schedules line up. None of us know if we're going to have any sort of social engagements on Friday or Saturday nights. And like many have said, the weekend is for catching up on things you can't do during the week - it's when I clean, grocery shop, see friends/family, and catch up on the TV shows I didn't get to watch because I was busy playing FFXIV. If I'm not doing any of those other things, then I'm playing. I've spent entire Saturdays playing FFXIV. But not every Saturday.
