Why doesn't anyone play on the weekends?

I'm really curious as to why most people prefer to grind away M-F rather than Sat/Sun.

For example this past weekend I've been trying to farm Leviathan. I've only had 1 clear and the rest ended up in disbands due to people rage quitting, not knowing mechanics etc. Unfortunately, I had no options to join other parties due to lack of anyone forming any, and DF was 100x worse.

But I login on Monday, there's a TON of parties! I get home after work with only about 3 hours of play time and well I'm generally tired. I attempt to join some parties, more wipes etc...but before I know it I gotta log out for the night. Meanwhile, Saturday & Sunday afternoon when I'm awake, have a clear head, plenty of time for wipes or whatnot, but the only thing in party finder are myth farm parties and atma grinding parties.



I don't get it. Wouldn't people rather party on a weekend when they aren't working or have free time? I understand with coil there's lockouts and people are rushing to start asap, but for stuff like T5 or Leviathan...where is everyone on the weekends? Why is this a weekday game?

Yes they would rather party on the weekends, however they are with their real friends.

Most people like to spend time on the weekend with family and friends since as you would have guessed, they have a larger chunk of time available to do so. On the weekday, they probably have 3 or 4 hours after work and before bed to play things on their own so that's when most things happen. My static generally run week nights instead of weekend nights cause we know people would rather spend time with family and what not.

If only...

I spend my weekend tending to my garden, cleaning the house, doing laundry, shopping for groceries. Basically all of the stuff I can't do during the weekday raid nights.

Maybe if you transfer to Tonberry or Masamune you will get more parties on the weekends. Also sargatanas has plenty of weekend parties ^.^

Japanese servers lag me like hell so that would be out of the question. Plus I already bought a house & all so I won't be transferring at this point.

Also reading everyone's responses it makes it seem like this game isn't "fun" but it's a chore or a job.
To me playing FF14 is more fun than going to a park with screaming kids and barking dogs so that's why I feel like "enjoying it on the weekend" seems more fun than during the weekday when I'm too tired after work to think straight. (；・∀・)

Aside from all the (very true) points made above about RL stuff, in regard specifically to in-game reasons....

1) By the weekend most people are capped out / locked out of dungeons, as a lot of the softcore elitists have already zerged their way through the game by the weekend.

2) When it comes to PUGs and the DF, (and this kinda ties in above) the pool of people left who are still wanting to do the content has dwindled down to mostly just the very casual 'weekend-only' type people who are generally less experienced, the trolly people, and just generally bad people who have been at it all week and still not cleared it. This leads to be a bit of a weird cess pool of both inexperienced, trolly, or bad players that causes a lot of people in the middle to just avoid random parties on the weekends all together.

EDIT: 3) And if you are *so close* to that next piece of equipment, book, or what have you, it is hard to resist the urge tuesday afternoon to not go crazy and zerg to get it because we are very impatient people ^^

Pretty much this reason. Just having more time in general (for most of us) on weekends allow more social/family/friend time.
I don't really have enough time during Mon-Thur to leave work and go see a movie, or go hang out at a friend's house. I have
a small window that's reserved for eating dinner, maybe doing a load of laundry, and that's it.

Last thing I want to do is play 48 hours Sat/Sun just because I can, lol. To each his own, obviously, but I think most people
just use that time to actually go out and do things cuz there's less of a time restraint.

This seems strangely legit because the horrible parties I had on the weekend made me want to ragequit the game lol. Guess instead of wasting time wiping with these people I'll just play other games on the weekend instead ._.
