Could the Downloader be the next NM?

I mean seriously, why is the Downloader still not working correctly? I dont know about everyone else but this thing is FUBAR.

I have been at 2.5% for 3 hours now. I have more upload speed than download speed. I have tried this update w/ a torrent prog and the updater will just not recognize the update (yes I dl'd the correct one). So now I'm faced with this beast of a Downloader that SE has put together.

SE why can't we a torrent link on the Lodestone or something and let us download from that? or have the option to download from a torrent link on the Lodestone and for those peeps that dont have a torrent prog just download from the monstrosity that is the FFXIV downloader.

OOH I just hit 3%!!!! I am sooooo excited.

early tonight, I upload the patch file and share the link for people who has issue with the downloader and I've been banned immediately

I understand they're doing their job, but... I just want to help people. can I appeal about this?

not even 40 minutes for me today. Like I'm sure ppl have already told you, making sure your ports are open correctly does wonders. If that doesnt work, then you are clearly doing something wrong

Something is def. funky tonight, I downloaded the last couple patches at 1+ MB/s when I reconnected my desktop after over a month.
Tonight its just spinning and spluttering to get 25KB/s, seems like there should be a LOT more people actually torrenting so its odd it does not go faster.

open ports TCP/UDP 55296-55551 as well as port UDP 443

I have the same issue.

Already opend all the ports...
Turned down every single firewall... (incluiding microsoft firewall).
Checked my router...

And still got the same issues.

Weird part is that this is the first time that this is happening to me. Before this patch I was able to patch properly. And also I use torrent and everything is ok...

Utorrent; I waited 7 hours to get 60% said screw it, copied the patch file into Utorrent and 20 minutes later i'm playing. Last thing; LOL @ the Topic, I laughed a good bit!

EDIT: Really though, find the patch open it with Utorrent, then copy the folder over your old patch folder and done.

On my desktop computer, it updates fine. On my laptop, takes about 8 hours. I just move the files from my desktop to my laptop with a flash drive. Takes about 3 min to update then !
