Not pretending kiraan is right or wrong, just underlining the info you missed
you can see here it's going to be dext for rogue/ninja, if the traits which are here are for ROG/NIN

Uhh...those aren't NIN skills, they're enemy skills...
Enemy skills with player icons...
o.o
I think they'll be STR too, but that line from Yoshida does NOT preclude them being DEX.
Is his statement still true if they end up DEX-based? Yes. "Disciples of War" gear, which is for monks as well as bards, has DEX, and the comment was aimed at keeping gear for levelling up. End of story.
Edit: Also there could be a translation problem here, "melee" could include bard, if you were just going by 2 categories of either melee or magic.
No. You're looking for Physical and Magic.I think they'll be STR too, but that line from Yoshida does NOT preclude them being DEX.

Semantics. My point stands.
Edit due to post count:
Yes, it stands. There's a language barrier, that can affect things. You don't know whether he includes bard under melee. The game does; the accuracy caps are the same. There's 2 caps: melee and magic. Bard fits under melee.

Your point doesn't stand. He specifically said -melee- gear.
It's not semantics. Physical and melee are nowhere near the same thing. Melee refers to close quarters combat. The proper opposite, in this situation, is ranged. Physical literally means just that, physical. Hitting the enemy with physical attacks, ie a spear or arrows. In that case, a bard would be classified the same as a dragoon.Semantics. My point stands.

The game classifies them under physical, not magical.

It is called Physical and Magic, not Melee and Magic.Semantics. My point stands.

Physical attacks are sub divided into melee and ranged.
