A huge point of this game is that one character can be all classes/jobs. By splitting smn and sch on one class it's proof that they won't get rid of the class system and just makes it so both those jobs can't be at their full potential if you want to play both.
And it will only get worse as more jobs are added to existing classes. Watch when/if drk becomes attached to gladiator
in pvp, ppl go as MRD, and GLD, because WAR/PLD, dont have any useful skills for pvp, cause you can't aggro/tank ppl.
also archer.

I agree with that but considering that at least 90% of the game has nothing to do with pvp, it still feels like a dead system. I would have prefered they flushed out the job system to have more customization and variety. In the end I just want to have 30 points to put on my smn and scholar separately. Instead of only really putting to use 15 of them because I very much use both jobs on a regular basis

The classes should have had more neutral stats and allowed a greater variety of skills to cross class. So you could make a GLD with mediocre magic skills if you really wanted to. The jobs would have been more focused. Jobs should not just get +10 to all stats across the board, instead the same number of stat points would be invested more heavily in their primary stats, with much lower cross class stats.I agree with that but considering that at least 90% of the game has nothing to do with pvp, it still feels like a dead system. Just do a 50/50 split or put them all in PIE or something...
It is a redundant feature to be honest, and a prime example of how games create an illusion of choice. I'm surprised they kept this feature when cutting the fat from v1.0 but removed other great features (open world NM's, elemental wheel etc.)

agree with the OP. It seems like SE added a second healer, because it was needed. And rather than add a new class, they added SCH as a job to ARC.
I main SCH (i99) but am gearing up SMN as my primary alt. I am leveling WHM and BLM as well, but I just hate playing a "gimped" SMN, even if it is not a significant reduction in dps.
But I will certainly not put the points in PIE, as then I will have both jobs less than optimal. And what are we running the gear treadmill for if not to build optimal characters.
I think the stats should all be worth something, uniquely to each class. So if I pick VIT, my Protect and Stoneskin spells are more powerful on my targets. Right now stats are more or less just stack 30 of your main and forget.
All experimentation I've had with trying to be creative has resulted in weakening my character's intended functions.
Though I stand by my original desires, this is one quality of life change I feel shouldn't be too hard for SE to come by.
I love the posts where people seem angry, irritated by me asking if there are any plans. This community is completely toxic, it's really kinda disgusting. If I didn't love the FF brand so much, and love it in an MMO format, I'd totally not put up with it lol.

Theyre toxic about it when its been asked many times before, with the same response each time, and it gets asked again.

I split my SMN/SCH stat points thusly:
INT 10
MND 10
PIE 10
Because balance. Is it perfectly specialized? No, but it ensures I don't have to buy a Hymn every time I want to change jobs. Then again, I barely touch either unless someone desperately needs a healer or a magic DPS anyway, so meh.
Though by the time Berserker comes out, I'll probably buy a Hymn and reallocate my Stat Points to 15 STR, 15 VIT instead of the 10 STR, 20 VIT I'm at now. Yay, being able to take a beating and dish one out too!
