I'm confused...are you trying to revamp the Summoner or create a Spellblade?
Only change how it operates really, make it feel like a Summoner that doesn't just: A) Summon the pet for them to attack for a second then disappear, and B) summon something that's constant but feels like something we always have to be micro-managing. But instead, something that is almost symbiotic with the character and goes where we go and moves with us. The Summoner guides the pet through motions and movements of his hands and body, which is already a little present with how spells cast with the grimoire are kind of "flung" from the book.
