I use Yumizuno, do primarily at night, turn on the light on pole (just in case), use /sit (just in case), and just to be safe...sacrifice an entire lalafell family along with their kittens.

I have researched and read all the things I can find on it and even redid my entire gear to max meld everything (costing me over 300k gil) just to get best I could get gathering gear.

So after more fishing yesterday, last night and this morning I have finally came to some peace with this....the facts are simple -

I use the correct lure.

I go to the correct fishing spot.

I have better stats on gathering and perception than are needed to hook HQ sovereigns. (better by 20+ at least compared to some people who are done with getting the rod )

I fish at appropriate times (night to negate Mahi Mahi)

I use HQ food to boost gathering and perception and have tried perception only food.

I traded in 20 NQ my first time for food, traded in 20 yesterday and back to having 10 in my inventory today...so obviously I have spent a good amount of time fishing trying to catch the FIRST HQ FISH, more than 99.9% of people who have done the turn in for the rod I would wager. I doubt there is another single player who is in the same situation of none at all.

So the conclusion is....its technically not impossible that I haven't caught a HQ yet, but its so damn near improbable that I must have some sort of bug or something else preventing it. I think I would have better odds of winning the lottery and as I walk outside getting hit with a chunk of falling airplane toilet water and then having a wild tiger carry my corpse off than to have not caught at least 1 freaking HQ sovereign in all this time. Not 1 single solitary fish. Not one. The fact I am unable to catch any at this point means I likely NEVER will catch one either, so I will just stop trying, before I break my PC and lose my sanity.

Maybe someday the rod will be buyable or they will discover some rare bug that only effected .1% of the population or something, but I just cant deal with it anymore.

And yet, still not 1 HQ silver sovereign at all after 30 hours easily and 27 NQ silver sovereigns.

It took me 30 days to get 20 HQ. It's all RNG. Good luck lol

P.S. I got 20HQ Sovereigns BEFORE I caught the titanic sawfish. So my bad luck was over there instead.

Just out of curiosity - are you getting any "Fish escaped"? Are you pulling all fish or aonly big pulls (where controller shakes contantly and character stands up if seated)? Are you fishing while standing or sitting? And I know this sounds totally "crazy" and contraintuive - but what about decreasing your stats a bit? Try to take off some accesory to reach gathering in range 210 - 220 (that's where I was already cathing HQ on mine).

Now you know why you do not get HQ Sovereigns. Lalafells have cursed you so you get them regularly, but 100% NQ.

Jokes aside, give it a break and try again in a few days. When you are on something and it doesn't work at all, do something else or it drives you insane. I went through this phase as well and know how mindboggling it can be lol.

Use food that increase gathering not perception or just get +3 gathering (if you can).
