I don't know if this will help people or not but I did mine with the coeurl mount.
I tried for over an hour with the chocobo and never landed on it. My plan was to do the jump until I made it, then wait for the weather.

After switching to the Coeurl mount I made it on the second try, running right off the other side. I could make it 1 out of 3 times with the coeurl mount. Now I had a problem with stopping on it.

It was easier for me to tell when I was off the point of the spear because the coeurl is so long that when you start the jump you are at a angle. "It looks like only the back feet are standing on the spear" when you pass the point the head/front end of the coeurl drops a bit.

TL;DR: for me the coeurl mount was better for this jump than the chocobo. Maybe it will help others.

While the jump might be semi-easy for some of us who have done this type of jump for ages, it is definitely not something a normal player should know how to do or need to know how to do.

The healer of love and justice! (Or the mad/insane/evil/berserk healer depending on who you talk to).
I've played healers for so long that I can heal in my sleep literally (People have seen me do it).
I like to do a bit of everything, but my preference is healing+support (until /that/ happens). FF14 title: Macro Queen

I've been hesitant to complain about this log entry but I've lost track of the hours I've burned on this to the point that I half expect my character to be glitched. I've tried kb, controller and alternating framerates and no luck. I find it hard to believe that they tested this with both controller and kb/m.

Yeah I was expecting something along those lines but I've been at it intermitently for a few months now without success. I'm not new to this kinda stuff either. There's really nothing that should be causing this.

    .

The secret is to cap your frame-rate in the settings... reduce it as low as possible & it's a million times easier to land the jump.

I spent about 3h on this jump, I did this trick... I was able to hit the jump THREE times in a row & consistently thereafter.

From the shorter standing log to the taller, on Chocobo, nearly falling off the backside to nearly falling off the frontside where you make your jump.

I dont know what to say to help the ppl that cant do it, myself I just tried and tried again till I got luck.
I went there once with the good weither, but failed to reach this before the end even if I was there before.
Then I came back there 1h early, tried again, and just got luck, becoz yes, this spot is only about patience and luck.

About the reducing frame rate, how can you do this ?

I have eveything on maximim and still 50+ FPS
Running 2 games at same time ?

From ingame, go to System > System Configuration, and scroll to the bottom. There's an option to limit your framerate to 30 fps.

I'm surprised that this works for people. My brother plays with his fps unlimited (would get over 50-60 fps) and he got that log entry easily (from a different starting point), whereas my laptop generally peaks at like 20 fps and I had a hell of a time.

What we did was we jumped from here:

Looks like a worse vantage than jumping from the lower post, but I think it works because it's easier to get the running start you need. With more practice, I suppose jumping from the post is easier.

There's some subtlety to getting the big and little jumps you need to get all of the sightseeing entries because it takes a moment to build up speed. Like to get long jumps, you -need- a short running start (often helps to strafe into position so that you start out facing the right way), and sometimes need to aim for edges rather than the middle of walkways. To make controlled short jumps, you can do them while walking. For really short ones, you start out facing the opposite direction of where you want to go, then do a walking jump towards where you want.

edit: Yeah, I just tried that jump again from the post that everyone else has been referencing. It's not about jumping from the highest point, and I doubt fps has anything to do with it unless you're graphically lagging so much that your movement is sluggish. It's about getting the running start you need. Starting from the back edge then jumping from the front edge gives enough speed to make the jump.
