how to become bard?

When you become lv30, in Archer and have lv15 in Pugilist you can obtain/use a Job Crystal which will change your class, effectively, from an Archer to a Bard. You get the crystal from the lv30 quest in the respective guild for your class (Gridania > Archer's Guild).

So in theory (just to clarify) if i want to make a different class i can just drop archery and start over? wher ein the normal mmo's you'd have to create a new char with a new job?

Better than that, just save your current archer gear, and equip a pair of Knuckles and you are a Pugilist. You can do this anywhere. Want to be an archer again? Just load your archer gear or equip a bow. So long as you have done the "Way of..." quest (initial class quest), you can switch to that Class at any time.

You retain everything you learnt and had with that class. You lose nothing by switching classes.

You're not "dropping" any class - you can have ALL classese and jobs leveled up on the very same character - to change the class simply equip / change the main weapon and voila! You'll keep progress on the class you've changed from and start with lvl 1 on each new class - they all level up separatelly. To change to job equip the relevant job soul stone obtained by completing the coresponding lvl 30 quest for that job. Job and class (like Bard and Archer) share the level and all the progress so once you'll change from Archer to Bard or vice versa you'll be still on the same level (only your stats will increas due to the soul stone boost) and as you progress with leveling the Bard it will level up your base class (Archer) or other way around indeed. It seems a bit confusing at first but once you'll try it yourself you'll find it pretty simple. You can check on progress of each individual class and job via character screen in game or via Lodestone.

You'll receive a 50% EXP bonus on any class with level lower than your currently highest class.

That's incorrect. You don't need to have "main" (or any other) class at 50 - you can have one at 8 and other at 2 and you'll still receive the EXP bonus. Also - I'd not call 50% EXP bonus "small"

Also keep in mind that if you log out while in city or other places which shows the small moon crest behind your progress bar you'll accumulate so called "resting bonus" which gives you another 50% EXP bonus. Plus there are some other ways how to increase this even more - like CE hats, GC or FC bonuses and so on.

From what I understand, you get a small EXP boost when you have a class at lv50. It should also be worth noting, you get your mount at lv20 and your companion at lv30 in through the main storyline. While you can get 5 classes to 15, it might be worth your time getting to 30 first so that levelling other classes becomes less of a drag.

Best on my server on aion. I will do lancer but first i'll level arch till 40 - 45. then puglist and then lancer. I am driven to be at least a top player on the server as with any game i play

Please don't. Get pugilist to 15 asap before continuning with archer because bard is group focused job and is invaluable in dunegons when it gets the songs. Same goes for any other job. At 30 you should get your job and work with that from there on in dungeons(mostly a whm that is sad to see gladiators or archers in bray or titan nm - there's only so much enrage healing I can do)...
