    The map is correct. You are at the base of a cliff in your present location. Note all that open area 'on the map' that you cannot see from that camera angle. The location of the chest is about 5 malms up from where you are standing. Just go north and hang a left to climb up there.

    And no, if you dispose of a map, you will not be compensated. Just explore a little more to find how to get to a destination.
