Take heed, SE. Your Atma design would lead some players to believe they are doing something wrong when they are not.
This is a direct effect of what you've caused through its implementation. Can you honestly say it's fine as is?
Except for a level 50 player with a Zenith (likely implying they are already at least decently geared) there is -zero god damned reason- to be out in the field passing by fates in the first place.Yes - you're doing it "wrong". Atmas were never meant to be farmed or hunted for in atma parties or endless whole day FATE sessions - the desing is to collect them "randomly" as you happend to pass active FATE on your way to do something else. I've only recently started the Atma quest, got my first one just after two FATEs which I've joined only because they were active just right next to me. And I'll not "chase" or farm those so I might get it in about the same time as you but in effect spending about twenty times less griding actual boring FATEs and doing something else I do enjoy ...
especially low level fates.
So you know, he may be doing it wrong, but that doesn't make the system right.
Just started grinding for these myself on Friday, it's Wednesday and I only have 2. They certainly didn't make them fun to collect that's for sure x_x
I feel for the OP, I know I was getting rather disheartened afte 3 1/2 days straight "no lifing" it before finding even 1. I'm sitting at 935 FATEs completed now, and have only done the bare minimum for quest completion, and animus books (I'm on my last book right now, so I'll end at 938 before reaching Animus), the rest was entirely to get my 12 atmas. It's NOT a fun piece of content, by far, I think it was one of those things that looked good on paper, but kinda suck in practice. I was able to push through and finish it after 12 years of playing Ragnarok Online though. collecting the cards to get a valkyrie helm was torture (0.01% drop chance).
My best word of advice is to not focus entirely on FATEs for this. I seemed to get them faster when I hopped into a fate between roulette queues, than when I just put the nose to the grind and went fate after fate after fate. I genuinely hope your luck turns around, to both the_juggler, and amy.neudaiz, and anyone else feeling disheartened.
Enjoy the rest of the game.
All 2 hours a week of that raid content.
Those incredibly deep facebook-game-esque Ventures!
The same dungeons over and over and over...and over again!
Compelling world bosses that you might see for about 30 seconds!
A deep and innovative crafting system (guffaw!)
And of course the engaging gathering system!
(And people wonder why the Relic being such a let down is a huge deal)
Edit- Almost forgot.
The completely fun and not at all nauseating Arena PvP beta!
If Novus is all that's driving you to play the game, that sucks... Time to take a break til 2.3 I guess.Enjoy the rest of the game.

You haven't heard of the roadblock that is atma farm? Really?! Seriously, though... RNG is pretty unforgiving on these damn stones. I wish you luck. I also wish you sanity for the trials to come.
1% drop rate doesn't guarantee you will get one every 100. Such small percentages can take 1000s of samples before the actual % chance actually manifests.
