I suspect you misunderstood my post. Perhaps I could have worded it better. Here, try this:

My understanding was that people didn't re-buy Chrono Trigger enough for SE to believe making more games in the series was worthwhile.
And as has been said, Chrono Cross is not a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Cross wasn't really a sequel to Radical Dreamers so much as a reimagining. That said, I don't really consider Cross to be a sequel to Trigger either. Like RD it's more of a side story, a separate game that happens to take place in the same world. Heck, the connections to Trigger only take effect in the last 10% of the game, if that. Don't get me wrong, Cross is a good game, it just has too many gameplay, setting and above all theme differences from Trigger for me to consider it a continuation.

    I agree.

There is a secret scene in chrono cross that has the 3 from chrono trigger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvtU6meOBek

Well chrono cross addresses the issue with those lost in time due to Crono's and friends decisions. They blame Serge but it is actually Crono's fault because of the adjustments he made from even entering the portal rippled, because time would have fixed it self and Marle would have been killed with the original princess and history would have remained unchanged.Case in point lynx existing at all is a side effect of the attempt to save Serge via a object displaced in time due to Crono saving the planet for it to be able to be kicked back in time. But there are alot of cuts that put down more direct connections in the story that never made it in. But I personally don't want a direct sequel where Crono is on the lead don't want him to get the metal gear snake treatment (Where all your prior accomplishments are washed away due to the possible new players to the game). In many ways once Chrono Cross ends the history auto corrects so only Serge, travelers of the Epoch, and people displaced in time will have any claim to what did and did not happen which if the world does go wrong in this correct births the last game of the trilogy where they solve the problem by removing time travel from the solution, stopping the splits in diminsions and remove/kill Lavos in the correct time and saving Schala from her self with a hero that is of that time. So it is possible Crono would not exist but the world is saved...A Chrono Break

I'd even argue that FF and Chrono Trigger are even more closely related than FF and DQ. 1. FF4 and Chrono Trigger were packaged together as a remake for the PS1. 2. FF and Chrono Trigger were both Squaresoft properties. DQ was Enix before the merge.

I'm not saying there shouldn't, but considering how bent out of shape people get about actual Final Fantasy characters being in the game, Chrono Trigger doesn't seem likely.

So was dragon quest and this popped in FFXI also and FFXIV.

I mean square-enix the company could add stuff for a limited amount of time and work it in the story shouldn't hurt the game but make it more enjoyable.

I mean check it out, if final fantasy tactics characters popped in disgaea game I would be excited, that's what cross overs do.

Plus chrono trigger works, using the time machine to warp to this world would work.
