Can we please get voice chat?

Can we please incorporate voice chat for in game by 3.0 at least? I know Yoshi P doesn't want female players to be discriminated and all, but c'mon communication is the key to beating runs. It is ridiculous that a whole community has to suffer for those reason alone, especially since in this day and age a person can either mute themselves or the person they are being discriminated by.

We are human beings we are born to communicate and i am getting tired of trying to navigate people through special attacks through typing. Its faster to tell someone to jump into a con flag if they have a fireball versus typing, Just saying. In addition this is 2014 the game should have some form of in game voice chat, that is just Today's standards in games now.

Actually, Yoshida's concerns aren't just sex discrimination. His biggest concern was vulgar outbursts that is oh so famous in every other game. Remember that this game has the chat filter on by default, making exposing yourself to vulgar language a personal choice. There is no viable means as yet to filter spoken language like the chat filter. So if you get partied with 'Potty-Mouth Pete' or 'Heckler Hank' there's nothing you can do about it save muting them. That's great, but what if Pete or Hank are the healer or tank. Then you're back to text chat and we already have that.

There have been MANY threads started and finished on this matter, PLEASE use the search function.
I found at least 6.

There has already been a developer response for this, they feel it would be better cost wise and for general convenience sake to avoid this.


The costs are extremely high to set it up, there are plenty of alternative options, they feel it wouldn't be worth adding as a result of these things.

If you don't feel like looking it up, it boils down to this;

•Pros

Fast, Effective Communication for;
Dungeons/Raids/General Communication

PS3/PS4 players would benefit from the convenience


•Cons

Implementation Time/Cost (Hundreds of thousands to set-up servers for dedicated voice-channels)

Expensive Data Management Costs (Maintaining the extra bandwidth is rather costly)
Voice chat would add more pressure to the data centers which could potentially affect the overall performance of the games network response times.

Concerns about it becoming a "necessity" on players

Potential Discrimination (Albeit very small/infrequent) this is a minor concern

3rd Party programmes for personal computers and mobile devices exist are so easily accessible now, they felt voice-chat would simply be a waste of development time as a result with so many 3rd party options avaliable

Right, just gotta mention that, even if this game has 1 million subs, at an average sub per month is $15, 15 million dollars a month this game is earning, and I hear this game as potentially 2 million subs so 30 million dollars a month, gotta be honest with you dude, but cost at this stage is bullshit, they have the money, they better deliver (this is considering many other system related things).

Just because they have the money doesn't mean they can just throw whatever they want into the mix. :P I'd be willing to bet they have to prioritize, and since there is a few decent options for voice chat available I doubt they feel the need to add another in-game as it stands now. My 2 gil on the matter.

I'm normally not against people making requests but this feature, there's a damn good reason they didn't add it in. It's a horrible idea. Think about the negatives..

Other than cost the negatives are non existant. Any slurs etc, well it's the same risk you take stepping outside your door and going out for the evening. You can't control others. The benefits however are overwhelmingly positive, and not just for ps users. F2P games can do it, a sub game certainly should be able to. Not to mention not having it built in divides the community. The good voice chat services are vent, mumble, and teamspeak. This means that ps users have to be at a computer anyways. Kind of counter productive.

You clearly don't know how trashy people get over voice coms when they're protected by anonymity. Text chat people behave better for some reason but over voice com I've ran into some really trashy people who harassed me and said vulgar things to me just for being a girl.
At least over text there's still the ambiguity that protect me since I generally don't mention my gender.

I will admit, this is a minority and most guys are respectful... But it's still an issue for girls.
