Not at all, its a "SE remove this because its hardly used and would limit the RMT's ability to send out mass tells" thread. Is it again a "SE should remove feature X because I don't use it" thread?
It is good to search for specific classes in specific zones to send them tells for materia meld, asking them to craft something and fast invites for FATEs and many other things
It also would not help against RMT tells, they would just teleport throught the world with a bot that /tell to everyone they meet.

Getting 1-3 tells each day I would not call "mass" ^^

OP, I'm pretty sure the RMT bots don't use player search for their /tell program. The player names are publicly available on the lodestone for web bots to crawl through. From there they can build a local list of players to message. Using player search would be a lot more hassle-some since there's a cap of 200 players brought to the list.

I use it a lot, for invites to LS/FC, and to just send them a message if I need to ask them something and I don't have them in my friends list.
I can confirm that Coeurl is absolutely shocking for RMT tells. Guarentteed to get one within 10 seconds of logging in, and every time you switch areas.

I use the feature only when I move to different fc. If someone I play with is not on any of my link shell or friends list m..I will try to find them via the search. Only works if they're online though.
I use it find recommended players for my groups. So like if I ask people in my Levi EX party "does anyone know a good tank?" and they say "oh yeah invite <playername> he's good" I use player search to find and invite them. I'm not sure how else I'm supposed to do that.

I wish FC leaders would use Player Search to directly send tells to players that show to not be enlisted in any Free Company, instead of shouting. That would be a good chunk of less people to blacklist.

You could put shouts in their own chat tab instead of blacklisting people. I did it to avoid having to read arguments over dumb crap in beta and I've never been happier.
Just cause someone isn't in a FC doesn't mean they want one, and there are people that are currently in FC's that would be interested in a new one.
