Collector's edition items in my standard edition character?

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place. If I have, please direct me to the correct place.

I started playing this game a while back and cancelled for a while. I found the Collector's edition on Ebay and bought it and got all my special edition items in my account. Can I get these items connected to the character I started playing with before I bought the Collector's Edition?

It says something along the lines of creating a new service account and that I can't transfer my character.

You need to register it to your service account. But every platform version can only be registered once.
You can also simple upgrade your standard account to a CE account on Mogstation.

Hey. Thanks for the info.
When I log in on my PS3 it asks me which item to register so I choose the Collector's edition and it shows me Service Account: FFXIV and Service Option to be added and everything is there but underneath there is a square saying Create a New Service Account.
Although there's even a warning saying;
"If you would like to import pre-existing character data, please do not select this option".
Above it though it tells me that by registering a new service account I will be unable to import characters created on a different platform. So I worry I won't be able to take Quenn with me.

If you happen to have purchased a Collector's Edition for a platform you already own the game on, then you've actually got a problem now; because the CE is essentially one key for "activate on this system + activate CE bonuses"; but if you already have one part of that, you can't duplicate on a single account.

Get in contact with player support and explain the situation, and they should be able to assist you.

Thanks Garlyle. I can't even get into my first game now because everytime I log in it tells me to create a new service account.

I might be understanding this wrong, but if what you're asking is if you can move a character from one account to another, no, you can't do that.

No, not what I was asking. I was wondering if I could have my collector's edition items with the character I already had created before I bought the Collector's Edition

If you currently had the PC standard edition (for example) and now bought the PS4 CE you could register that to the SAME account to unlock both platforms for that account, and granting the CE items to all characters on the account (including the one you made on PC) and could then play your old character on both platforms if you wanted.

If, however, you had the PC standard edition and bought the PC collector's edition you would NOT be able to register it to the same account because you already have a PC version registered. In this scenario you would have to buy the collector's edition upgrade on the mogstation to upgrade your account.
