not that hard to DL vent and its a hell of a lot easier to manage than having to mute 13 year old kids and those obnoxious a-holes that think everyone wants to hear their shitty music over the mic

Ingame voice chat would need to be better than TS3 or Mumble, or the PC players would not use it.
Not to mention the memory on the PS3 is already crammed as it is, throwing in voice chat would mean sacrificing something else. In addition to all the other issues people have listed.
It means moderation and moderating voice is much harder and expensive than text. Text is a huge means for communication, has been for centuries. Can we please incorporate voice chat for in game by 3.0 at least? I know Yoshi P doesn't want female players to be discriminated and all, but c'mon communication is the key to beating runs. It is ridiculous that a whole community has to suffer for those reason alone, especially since in this day and age a person can either mute themselves or the person they are being discriminated by.
We are human beings we are born to communicate and i am getting tired of trying to navigate people through special attacks through typing. Its faster to tell someone to jump into a con flag if they have a fireball versus typing, Just saying. In addition this is 2014 the game should have some form of in game voice chat, that is just Today's standards in games now.
WONT ANYONE THINK OF THE CHILDRENOther than cost the negatives are non existant. Any slurs etc, well it's the same risk you take stepping outside your door and going out for the evening. You can't control others. The benefits however are overwhelmingly positive, and not just for ps users. F2P games can do it, a sub game certainly should be able to. Not to mention not having it built in divides the community. The good voice chat services are vent, mumble, and teamspeak. This means that ps users have to be at a computer anyways. Kind of counter productive.
there this app called ventroid or something if your worries are the PS/PC voice chat that fixes it
I think the development team mentioned that they will never be doing any voice chat system in-game. Reasons being:
1. Potential for harassment (I'm pretty sure everyone will turn it off in DF for obvious reasons)
2. Potential to kill role-plays
3. (Most important) It will take resources away from other areas of the game to make something that will most likely suck <a game company trying to make a voice chat program better than voice chat program companies>
I don't think in-game voice chat is a good idea at all. It would have to be incredibly optimized and really good (better than the current options people are using outside of the game) and that sort of thing needs a lot of money and development. Not to mention the fact that they'd need to moderate and make sure that there is no illegal/against the TOS activity and that would be incredibly hard to do.
I'll give you an example. They added an in-game voice chat in World of Warcraft and it was terrible. Low quality and really laggy. People tried it once and never again.
Right, just gotta mention that, even if this game has 1 million subs, at an average sub per month is $15, 15 million dollars a month this game is earning, and I hear this game as potentially 2 million subs so 30 million dollars a month, gotta be honest with you dude, but cost at this stage is bullshit, they have the money, they better deliver (this is considering many other system related things).
Just because they have the money doesn't mean they can just throw whatever they want into the mix. :P I'd be willing to bet they have to prioritize, and since there is a few decent options for voice chat available I doubt they feel the need to add another in-game as it stands now. My 2 gil on the matter.Right, just gotta mention that, even if this game has 1 million subs, at an average sub per month is $15, 15 million dollars a month this game is earning, and I hear this game as potentially 2 million subs so 30 million dollars a month, gotta be honest with you dude, but cost at this stage is bullshit, they have the money, they better deliver (this is considering many other system related things).
In every MMO I have ever seen that had in-game voice chat people would ALWAYS turn it off in PUGs to avoid the inevitable trash talking whilst guilds and organised groups would ALWAYS stick to mumble/vent/teamspeak because they were better... I have never seen in-game voice chat ever used enough to justify the resources required to implement it.
