You do get some more ______ online, but it's a risk in any public setting. I've played games with built in voice chat for 3 or 4 years now. This game feels half a decade behind the times to me with how it doesn't have it built in.

So we should all just bend over and take any and all harassment because it's 2014. Heaven forbid that there's laws in many countries, mine included, against verbal abuse and that it's been proven ad nauseaum that verbal abuse can and does have detrimental effects on others. Especially when directed against young children who haven't had the benefit of the mental hardening of adulthood (that is, as we get older words 'should' have less and less of an impact on our psyche because we 'know better'). Afraid I can't agree with you at all.

The benefits however are overwhelmingly positive, and not just for ps users. F2P games can do it, a sub game certainly should be able to. Not to mention not having it built in divides the community. The good voice chat services are vent, mumble, and teamspeak. This means that ps users have to be at a computer anyways. Kind of counter productive.

I think the development team mentioned that they will never be doing any voice chat system in-game. Reasons being:
1. Potential for harassment (I'm pretty sure everyone will turn it off in DF for obvious reasons)
2. Potential to kill role-plays
3. (Most important) It will take resources away from other areas of the game to make something that will most likely suck <a game company trying to make a voice chat program better than voice chat program companies>

You clearly don't know how trashy people get over voice coms when they're protected by anonymity. Text chat people behave better for some reason but over voice com I've ran into some really trashy people who harassed me and said vulgar things to me just for being a girl.

I have never ever encountered any trash talk towards females in any game using voice comms or something like TS, and I've been mmorpging since UO.

By the way PS3/4 people can use the app on a smartphone for TS. (somebody else's post about PS3/4 people not being able to use voice comms)

Is the TS app ios and android do you know? This is the first I've heard of that.

It's not free. We use Skype. Teamspeak remote is free but you got to have TS installed on your PC.
