    Where's the sense of adventure?

    With the announcement of the (eventual) expansion, I once again implore SE to consider us adventure freaks. What I mean is simple; there's NO sense of danger in this game, with exception of the second coil. The fact of the matter is, I can (and have) walk around without ANY gear except my weapon, as any class, and utterly dominate. While this game is very beautiful, that's only one part of the equation. What makes places in games meaningful/exciting/memorable is both the visuals and the DANGER. Call me old-school if you will, and I suppose I am, but I vividly remember how no matter how well geared I was in FFXI, there were zones that I HAD to tread lightly; or I'd die. Period. I'm not saying turn this into FFXI, where a stray worm popping out of the ground can murder you; I'm just saying make some zones that are very clearly either designed for parties in mind, or for the adventurous. Right now the world of Eorzia is just....boring. Very, very boring.

    Don't forget that no matter your level, there was always a rabbit who could kill you. I loved danger in the world in mmos, it makes it feel more like a world, rather than a lobby game. Maybe it'd also teach people not to derp, perhaps it might even lower the amount of bad people XIV has (it's too high)

    I always felt that sense of danger leveling from 1 to 50. Fates are there for parties.
    What they could do though is maybe make more level 50 FATES in the low level areas so the whole weird feels dangerous, and maybe make the reach of the FATES larger. In addition to this, they could introduce consequential FATES where if they're not done people can't travel through there, these however give a lot of gold/loot.

    I'm with you up until the consequential ones. Even if you try to make them rewarding, the reality is that it eventually creates content that shuts itself off after a period of time, because nobody does it anymore because the rewards are no longer of any use. This is an issue modern XI faces - things like Assault or whatever it was called are basically null content at this point because there isn't nearly the playerbase active around there to do anything about them. Unless they're so easy anyone can do them - which goes against the point of it in the first place.

    Depending on how Daily Hunts are handled, they may be something that will be to the OP's taste, but this depends on if they're all manually popped or genuinely roving death machines.

    I agree..

    Anyone remember the COR and BLU quests.. that shit was crazy fun and hard. Maneuvering around Aydeewah Subterrane and Arrapago Reef!

    This reminds me of my first mmo. I thought it would be funny to kill a dog. Needless to say, he ripped me a new one and then guarded my body so I couldn't loot my corpse. I learned my lesson haha.

    yeah no real danger anywhere sucks. I remember early on I fearlessly rode on my unicorn at lvl30 to watch the odin fate Later on I felt it was weird the ride was so easy.

    Dangerous environment? Yes please!
    Monsters which can kill a lvl50 char? Yes please!

    The whole game is like a walk in the park. That's ok for starting and mid-level areas, but endgame areas should make you ask yourself if it's save to just run past a mob.
    It's the same with the very very simple aggro system. All mobs are sight aggro, no sneaking past a mob by walking slowly to make less noise, no danger if you run around near undead with low health.
    And the castrums? What a joke! You can kill a Garlean right behind the back of another who's only a few steps away and he doesn't notice?

    Btw, it seems that heavy (while mounted) doesn't work when you get hit from the front.
    I was facing 4 Amalja a few days ago and they kept attacking but not slowing me. As soon as I turned around to move away, the slow effect hit me.
    Got to try that again.
