How is it ridiculous when it is a FACTION based PVP setup. I just don't see it nor understand it. Just change your GC, if it's that big of a deal. Ayaaa. People cry about everything. I thought it was understood that Frontlines would be GC/Faction based PVP.
You know what you lose when you change ur GC?
All rank pvp are losing... So you can't play with ur friends or you can't play with ur stuff in arena !
Great choice, you are boring
I think it's very strange to not include morale in frontlines. People who actually enjoy PVP and have been working hard to get PVP gear are getting shafted by this (that is, actual people who worked for it, not people who win traded 90% of the time). I'll live with it though.
As for the GC thing, they basically said this for ages. The very first time frontlines was brought up they said it would be based on GCs. Every other time since then they have said it would be based on GCs. PVP released in December, all ranks based on GCs. Should have been common sense. Oh well, not all people actually bother to research or think about this stuff, so at least you have the opportunity to switch GCs. Most MMOs with factions, upon choosing a faction, you are permanently locked into that faction and cannot ever change. Simply organize with friends which GC you want to be a part of before 2.3 comes out.
It's pretty stupid that PvE gear is better in Frontlines than PvP because PvP gear only has a single secondary stat, even though it's a PvP area. Makes no sense, just shows how irrelevant PvP is in FFXIV.
Just poor design choices on part of the development team. Moving the goalposts on the treadmill with glorified glamor equipment and cosmetic mounts instead of meaningful progression, PvP gear that you PvP to obtain being worthless in a PvP-enabled duty, rank/gear gaps with "queuing restrictions" placed over them like bandages which skyrocket queue times, how wildly disorganized the class system has become in regards to both queuing (forced party compositions) and balance (tanks masquerading as a second MDPS) - the list goes on.
It seems they will be perpetually playing the mechanic as they churn out new, unfinished venues with no forethought.
Frontlines is for players new to PvP and casual PvP players so if they made the morale stat count in frontlines players that already soured on Wolves Den won't play Frontlines
nonsense, the reason why wolves den "soured" players is due to the queues time suck hard, the match last one round, the button response time is bad, its rigorous "1 tank, 1 healer, 1 melee dps and 1 range dps" meta game and also the fact that WD is arena and many players do not like arena pvp, but like large scale objective pvp.the morale stat is just simply the last straw for alot of ppl.
hmm...no. the grind for r30 to r40 was never an issue, it was the long queues and the power creep that the ilvl 110 gear had over everything.Umm.. Wasn\\'t the last straw about how leveling from 30 to 40 was going to take forever by means of doing it legit? (put "blame que times " reason here) Cuz i remember quite a few ppl were like i give up fck pvp cuz this grind is ridiculous and i\\'m done.
So imo i like how they capped it at i80 and took out morale.
Think of it as a kind of quantity vs quality thing. Frontlines is suppose to appeal to the masses ( casuals ) as the "quantity" of players kinda will at one point outweigh individual\\'s skills.
But in WD, the 4vs4 is all about concentrated skill and
teamwork/ co-ordination. Thus the "quality" of each player is more important than just having 4 ppl on a team. Usually a skilled team can still win in a 3vs4 situation due to d/c or whatever.
The real gear progression stopped at i90 direwolf stuff. The animal gear was just for wintraders and ppl with a lot of time.
the morale stat was totally the last straw in the conga line of things that mess up pvp in this game.why do you think ppl were forced to grind 30/40s? hmm was it because they found the lower queues better OR it was the only way grind wolf marks without being smashed by ilvl110 players in pvp. when pvp first came out, everyone gears was pretty even.however, after awhile, ppl started to get their pvp gear and the power creep beside pve and pvp begun. players were forced to do 30s and 40s before even touching 50s. this was the main reason why alot ppl quit because most newcomers would get ROFLstomp a rank 30 team in 10 seconds.
also LOL if you think WD is the "competitive" pvp in this game. the meta for WD is so braindead in its 1 tank, 1 healer,1 MDPS and 1 RDPS comp that it requires NO SKILL. yes i said it, it requires no skill to "compete" in WD, only just superior gear to kill the other team healer first. all you have to do is kill the healer and game over. that is all "teamwork/ co-ordination" that exist in this game.you can get a team of newcomers against season pros (both with equal gear) and tell them:just kill the whm or sch fast" and your team has just much of a chance to succeed as the other team. of course if you feel like shaking it up, then you can go to second meta which "RDPS,HEALS, whoever is left"
wow.such skill.such teamwork and competitiveness.
edit
nonsense on the "The real gear progression stopped at i90 direwolf stuff. The animal gear was just for wintraders and ppl with a lot of time"
idc if you meant this or not, but i am so tired of this being the community perception of the animal series gear.do not assume that every r40 is a WTer.
i can name about 8 legit players who has earned their r40 gear legitimately or is close to get their gear.just because WT dominates the animals doesnt mean all the ppl who has animal gear aare win traders.

Vertical progression is deadly cancer for pvp. Facerolling "newbies" should come purely from player skill and experience, and not how long they grinded for raw power. Pvp gear/ilvl should perish from arena too. Add ranking instead.
