I'm wondering if everyone will be synced to the avg ilvl of all participants' unsynced gear. That would make more sense.
With 72 combatants, some players having vastly superior gear (because presumably they're into PvP enough to have acquired it already) doesn't seem at all unfair. I don't see the need to sync the gear either for that matter, or at least not by default. Custom 'even playing field' matches where they do this are fine, sure, but what's the point in PvP gear existing if it's made not only irrelevant, but actually worse than PvE gear due to a missing secondary stat?
I've never been much for PvP, but I have some interest in Frontlines. I'd be starting at rank 1 with no shred of an advantage and I would much prefer that they reverse their decision on the morale stat and the gear syncing. Without those things there's no progression at all. It would be the PvE equivalent of running Coil all day in darklight gear and passing on everything that drops. After all, it would be unfair if you were better geared after your 50th clear than someone who just started, right?
This is EXACTLY how I feel.
And Tandy, it's not about one shotting people. I'm COMPLETELY for skill and balance. But it isn't balance when PvP gear will only have 3 stats. A bunch of us BUSTED our asses PvPing for the pvp gear and have been pvping for months. Have been at it since day one of Wolves' Den release.
All of a sudden we're told that we'll be missing a fourth stat and that we HAVE to PvE just to pvp? Lol? It's a huge kick in the balls. Since glamour dosen't work in wolves den, there might be a chance it doesn't work in Frontlines either. So now what good is PvP gear?
IMO, they should do this.
Allow melds to only work on PvP gear, that way PvP gear still has a use AND it helps with the fourth missing stat problem
BOOM PROBLEM SOLVED.
^^^^^ This x1000000
And to the people saying "PvP for fun"........
......
Fuck yeah I PvP for fun. I play games for fun. BUT I DON'T play MMOs to sit in fucking queue for 30+ mins (aka wolves den queue) and to look at 7/8 7/8 7/8 7/8 7/8 all day

So basically the PVP gear you earn now is just vanity gear? Anyone who has done a lick of pvp grinding knows how unbelievably long it takes to get any decent rank in pvp, and now you tell us; "hey, thanks for all the time you put into PVP, here's some pretty gear that is useless in frontline". How about you remove the frontline category from the PVP selection if your aren't going to apply the PVP stat morale.
Gah....I wish they didn't gank the stats on the PvP gears....If for no other reason than those gears with their stats+looks were a giant carrot on a stick. People wanted that gear.
But part of me can't help but think this is SE's way of dealing with the 'farming' problem that happened when the newest PvP gears came out.
Now do I think this is an acceptable way to handle the 'farming' issue either? No. Nor would I want people to be banned/rolledback/ etc for 'farming' as the biggest reason many farmed was due to how broken PvP rewards vs. effort vs time spent in queues actually is.
I'd rather they:
-iLvl 80 level-synced ALL gear for now (like they are doing), but keep morale as part of PvP. So PvPers who've been leveling have some modest benefits over those who enter 'fresh' and/or in PvE.
-increase the EXP earned win or lose in the wolves den for matches. (not the marks, just the exp).
-make PvP level 55 gears (the ones you can craft) and maybe PvP ilvl 70 gears, drop in Frontlines randomly to help expidite people who are newbie and leveling in their quest for Morale.
-Keep the iLvl 90/100 PvP gears relevant, and giant carrots, but purposefully not create large-scale content where that gear is truely beneficial (full stats unlocked) until more players actively playing PvP content are level 27+.
This way, they don't spit in the faces of the dedicated PvPers who earned their trophies and gears legit.
But they also don't completely reward the 'farming'...nor do they punish players who wanted the gears, but not the grind fully.
All while still allowing new folk to step into Frontlines with more or less, semi-equal ground...and/or at least a way to equalize their gears fairly quickly. Once these players 'catch up' a bit Rank wise, introduce new content with higher Lvl sync caps, or remove the sync.
-This might make/keep the PvP iLvl 55+ crafted stuff worthwhile
-The iLvl 70 gears are not too hard to earn
-Getting to rank 10 is not that difficult.
Hell, why not even add bonuses for have new players on your team if you are above a certain rank (30?) and have x amount of people below rank (10?) if you win=bonus marks for them...or Solid tomes...or even gil for all. This would cause players to try to 'balance' their teams on their own/encourage vets to assist and teach newbies....
All without erasing months of character development done by many of you.
I say this as a Rank 17 PvP Healer....that trust me, has been slugging it out in solo queues. I understand how much I have to work (with a high chance for minimal rewards)....and I don't even have anything 'cool' yet.

Sounds like a grief tactic and a reportable offence.
I'll be sure to encourage others who are trying to enjoy the game to report players like you because you were raised by your mommy and daddy to be a spoiled brat who throws tantrums when you don't get what you want.
Please look forward to it.![]()
So..... Ppl treated the r40 gear as " i just want to get it for vanity and never play pvp again or as much anymore "
SE made frontlines so that morale won't be included.
Now almost everyone is going crazy about the missing stat.
Why bother when the majority only Qs in Q30/Q40? Because ppl thought the morale stat was too broken/ OP etc.
sure it may be dumb how a pvp stat is excluded from a pvp battle but in a way it's actually reasonable as frontlines is a different thing from the wolves den.
If you really wanted to grief then u'd kill the other team and spare either one of their dps or tank.
Do mandervilledance ontop of dead bodies while the enemy is waiting for you to kill them.
Or
You can spare the healer and let your tank CC them after you allow them to rez someone.
Since someone who got rezzed will have 10% hp with weakness and 0mp, you then proceed to steamroll whoever gets back up while the enemy healer is asleep or Stunned or not in LoS of their team.
Do this a lot and ppl will remember ur name and report u. Then you'll get some attention from SE lol
Hilarious that they think people will do Wolves Den anymore. They may as well delete it along with Morale.
Wolves Den was meant to be a training arena (remember the quest?). It made sense in that regard. If the grind wasn't ridiculously bad, it would even have been something we could tolerate.
You do your time in the Wolves Den, then you get to enter the Frontlines. That works. That's how I saw it, that's probably how we all saw it.
Instead, you just jump right into Frontlines. Wolves Den fades into obscurity and nobody ever queues there again. If Morale wasn't locked behind hours and hours of grinding, the issue of people being underpowered in Frontlines would be no where near as bad. They could even have added some i80 crafted PvP gear; would that make i70 PvP worthless? Not if you make it so you can't meld the crafted stuff. Instead we have a PvP zone with no purpose other than to make Crystal Tower gear more relevant...
I can actually understand why they did it, if a certain rank was required, nobody would be there, certainly not 72 people under the current state of PvP. But doing this is like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound... That you got months ago and never treated..., actually they treated it a few weeks ago by splashing some water on it and letting everyone use moves from the start, but that's besides the point. If Wolves Den wasn't a ridiculous grind, people might have enjoyed it, people might have tolerated doing it to get to Frontlines. Instead they left it to fester over time, and now something that could have been great has to be sacrificed as a result.
Perhaps it is fitting that they set Frontlines in the crater of Dalamud, because that is equal to the force of which they've dropped the ball this time. Frontlines was descending from the heavens of E3, then out popped the details and completely annihilated all hope for there actually being a reason Wolves Den or Morale was ever there. Yoshida sees Wolves Den as this games "real" PvP, and its content that nobody has really enjoyed since launch... For someone who claimed to love PvP, he seems extremely disconnected from the state of PvP in his game...
Christ, they could have just changed how Morale works. Make it has a cap based on your opponents Morale; if you're in full i90 and your opponent is in PvE gear, your Morale does very little, but it still gives you an advantage, someone in i100 woudl have the same advantage over your and them. If you're in i100 then you'll always have the highest Morale, you'd have earned a small advantage against people in any gear. That would have kept the sense of progression without completely shitting all over new players. Instead it's a non-stat, and PvP gear is potentially worthless outside a vanity piece (another case of SE locking vanity items behind ridiculous walls).
